Well I did join my local cycling club, just back from a 35mile club run with a cafe stop half way.
Certainly quite enjoyable cycling in a group, and I was quite impressed that I was able to keep up with my mountain bike (although I did tail behind during the last 6 miles).

Brilliant! Just out of interest how long did it take?
Slowly tweaking the MTB to try and reduce weight for the next run! Removed an unnesessary 300g multitool, and I've got a pair of SPD pedals on the way, certainly won't be taking a 1kg bar bag next time!
: Do any cycling clubs do sensible start times? My answer to the above would : be 'had breakfast, went on ride'.
Some racing club rides start at 10am (ours do). But most people want to either get out and back to kids/diy/garden or want to be out all day and get some decent miles in.

35 mile.....What did you do after 10a.m.??????

Obviously not. he local club runs are at 9 or 9.30 here which is much later than I want to be starting out. I often see them when I am on my way back..
We're currently starting club runs at 10.30 am and seem to be getting better attendance.
I wish my local CTC DA would do that. The only rides that ever seem to start at 10:30 are the New Year's Day rides. And coincidentally (not), the only ride that I've ever been on with them was on New Year's Day.
I'd suggest it, but then I'd feel compelled to go on the next 10:30 ride and I'm bound to be short of tuits.
