Cycling to work in Phoenix, AZ

Is there anyone who lives or has lived in Phoenix, AZ who knows what it is like to cycle to work, or in the area in general?
I'm seriously considering going car-free very soon, and I know I would enjoy my life more if I replace my car with a bicycle.

I would appreciate your input.

depends on what side of town you live on. I rode from Chandler to Tempe, bike lanes the whole way, 11 miles each way. I know folks who live in north phx and there are very few bike lanes and its quite dangerous. Good luck.
