Just went to the worst storm of the season. Our house didn't sustain any damage this time but the neighborhood is a mess. Huge trees down everywhere and I mean uprooted. Much of the power is out but we still have it <for a change>.

It was nasty here, too, Michael. The sirens (meaning someone spotted something) went off three times in three hours. Persia the cat hid in the closet and I briefly considered joining her and bringing the bird Peaches along. Good thing I have walk-in closets! But it turned out okay. Just lots of wind and rain; no hail, no tornadoes.

I live in Glendale on Glenhaven Drive. Man, you should see some of the trees that came down. One tree was so huge it fell across 3 yards. My next door neighbor's pine tree came up, roots and all. The whole street is a mess. We've got a lot of branches down but nothing major at our house. Glendale is in the Kirkwood/Webster/Ladue area.

I grabbed both cats and the dog and went to the basement. Bart was hiding under the car in the garage. I mean, it was sunny one minute and then 60mph winds and sleet the next. Storm only lasted about 15 minutes but boy it did some serious damage.

Yeah, it blew up fast. I was messing with the computer when the sirens went off, which baffled me because I'd just been outside and it was sunny.

I thought about you when I heard the storms were so serious in MO. You had tornadoes, I guess? I'm glad everything is okay. We were lucky in that the tornadoes were all at least 15 miles away, but we had such heavy hail the visibility was zero. Couldn't see across the street!

It was scary enough that my parents called me this morning (laughing... only 14 hours later) to find out if I was okay. That's fine; they are 13 hours away and it's not like tornadoes give you notice like a hurricane does. One funnel cloud touched down about 10 miles from here but nothing like the storm back in 1999 (which they still call "straight line winds"😉. Sorry, weather people, but that was a tornado; I heard the freight train.
Power was knocked out all over the Memphis area for (in some places) 2 weeks. I knew I could cook with just a grill. Made some wonderful jambalaya on the grill. Anyone who has problems cooking rice without a rice cooker should try cooking it on a grill sometime. 🙂

Parts of Illinois got it really bad. Fairview Heights really got nailed. We had tornadoes but I'm not sure where they touched down.
