You don't need to get into shape.

Hmm, "macho thing". Sometimes it is better to keep your mouth shut and
let people think you might be intelligent vs opening it and making it
clearly be known that you are ignorant and insecure. -

At least some of us are here because we want to be strong and healthy,
not look at ourselves in the mirror and pronounce ourselves "in shape."
And there is nothing more fundamental in the world of strength than
picking something heavy up off the ground. I'm training for a
strength/endurance sport competition now and not only don't need to
deadlift, I probably shouldn't, but I'm doing it anyway because, damnit,
deadlifting just plain f---in' rulz. -

We had a Manco post here a couple of years ago that was supposedly a
great kick ass powerlifter. Are you the same guy? -

It's my favorite lift.
It's soul satisfying somehow.....and it keeps me from wimping out when I have to actually USE the
strength I have gained by doing them when I have to do chores like
lifting measly 80 lb. bags of concrete mix! <lol>It's like, duh, you can DL x-amount of weight.
An 80 lb. bag of redi-mix is easy. Right? Why do those bags feel SO much heavier than that barbell? ;-)

Sure; pear is a shape.
But some of us don't want to be in your shape.
