Last year, about 48 hours before my Thanksgiving Dinner guests were
expected, I fell and broke my hip. Since two of my guests were
neighbors who live in this building, they graciously offered to cook
everything I could not handle. I accepted their kind offer gratefully.
I am having the same couple as guests later on today, with dinner
scheduled for four o'clock. I pre-heated the gas oven at 325 degrees
and put the turkey (in an old fashioned large roasting pan with a lid)
at 12 o'clock noon. I figured three hours plus for the bird to be done
and half an hour of resting.
At ten minutes past twelve noon, there were a number of small explosions
in the oven. I went to the intercom and called the Handyman on duty.
After he looked and told me not to use the oven, I called my neighbors.
Somehow, it all seems so familiar.
I feel like such an old fool. :o(
