  1. hi people,
i just got my £500 Claud Butler Milano (road bike) a couple of days ago and have been running it in - done about 15 miles yesterday and just couple today. Problem is that my butt is killing me!! Its feels like i'm bruised or sumthing when i sit down!!! not pleasent!!! The saddle is a Selle Bassano Excaliber apparently (came with the bike) is this just a bad, cheapie saddle to cut costs? - has anybody any suggestions??? I know i'm a newbie but surely cycling those small distances shouldnt be that sore??? lol

If you are new to cycling your bum will be sore i remember the pain. wear padded cycle shorts and use a chamis cream in the shorts. get seat dialed in i used a level on my saddle to get it level.as you ride more the pain should leave, i know it hurts but keep riding, good luck.

  3. 1st. Pain is just weakness leaving your body.

2nd. Is it true that you don't wear underwear with bike shorts?

Agree with zaskar. Chamois cream really works to prevent chaffing. Standing up to relieve the pressure for maybe 30 seconds every 10-15 minutes or so also helps, as well as taking a quick stop off the bike every hour.

LOL - Good bike shorts are a must! If you're not using any and you're not used to hard road bike seats, you can seriously bruise a pretty tender area. It will go away and happen to a less degree as time goes on.

  6. Hi,

a good pair of cycling shorts and a gel seat adaptor - it just covers the saddle; does the job for me. I have a Raleigh Chimera, but have just ordered a Milano after a 10 mile test ride and the Gel seat pack did the job for me. If you're in the UK you can pick them up from Tescos for about 5 pounds sterling.
