With all the scrutiny on this year's Tour a blood transfusion and other assorted items would be extremely risky to use/possess, especially in France where it seems the gendarmes can raid any team's rooms, buses, cars, etc., and just might do that to make a good show. -Not wanting to be outdone by their counterparts in Spain.

Would any team keep a rider who says it was for their dog, mother, wife, friend, etc.? If a rider on a team has a sub-par Tour would they be sacked when his fellow teammates are in the same boat?

He doesn't seem to handle pressure very well. Previous Tours have seen him not fulfill expectations, so it's hardly surprising that he pulled out.

The answer to this complex riddle is more straightforward than that, Syd.

And what is the answer, as you seem to have the evidence on your table? The use, or lack of use, of drugs should never be the first conclusion one comes to when a rider or group of riders is performing poorly, and certainly when there is no proof of such. It's far more rational that Hincapie and co. simply had bad days (though even this cannot be said of Azevedo, who didn't do too poorly). After all, look at a rider like Leipheimer. You might have been tempted to make a similar claim to the one you're making now about him before he tore it up in the Pyrenees today. I don't want to beat a dead horse here but your blatant anti-Lance/disco bias removes a lot of your credibility.

Rubiera, Savoldelli, Hincapie and Martinez all doing well in the "Race to Disgrace".

Hincapie is surely near the top of contenders, based on performance to hype ratio. But we also cannot forget about Tommy D., who barely triumphed over a rival with diahrrea in a third rate stage race.

Iban Mayo would seem to be a perfect match for Disco. I wonder when his current contract is up.

I thought Savoldelli was going to start today. I can't believe there was no coverage of his accident yesterday. I know he's out of the GC, but the NASCAR aspect of covering disasters you would have thought a camera would pick it up. Ah, I'd be high-tailing it out of there too. I'm sure he's counting the days to Lampre.

He did start, but abandoned after about 40 km. I thought the accident with the spectator happened after the stage was finished, maybe that's why there was no coverage.

He actually started today but got off his bike as his sprit was gone.... in addition he needed to see his accountant about his new big fat salary at Lampre..... ! 🙂

The Italian was riding back down the mountain when a spectator walked out in front of him, causing Savoldelli to fall. The Discovery Channel rider got 10 stitches to his right eyebrow, and although he was able to start Friday’s 211 kilometre stage to Carcassonne, he abandoned after 43 km.

In pleanty of occassions last year Lance was isolated. DC destroyed everyone on Courchavel while on Port de Pailheres all DC boys were dropped. Lance reached St-Lary - Soulan also alone.

I took it as a joke that some thought George will be a contender but I am suprised that all DC had such a bad day. I didn't expect that none of DC will be in leading group 5km before the Beret summit.

WBT.....There you go again, blaming Armstrong for things he did not do. I know it would be natural for you to assume that , knowing there are only a few people with a good enough work ethic capable of running behind a rider for over 15 kms before knocking him off. However, WHERE IS THE PROOF? Give me documents showing it was Armstrong? I am willing to hire a independent investigator {from the Italian mafia] to prove Armstrong has a alibi. Everyone that claims that Armstrong was the American who chased the rider, knocked the rider down, and sang Crow songs badly are all liars. Proof is in the book " It's All About Lawyers."
