do you carry ID?

Always with my driver licence just in case.Oh the mobile is another important item to carry too.

Yep. me too.
photocopy of my driver's licence in the toolbag and the first entry in my mobile is named "accident?callmyhome" so its listed first and easy to find

Luckily i have never had to use it. Had to use the mobby heaps tho to get the mavic, er, wife support crew to pick me up!

When cycling I always carry some kind of ID, just in case I
get skittled. I also carry a neatly folded triangular
bandage - makes good bandage/pad/rag/handkerchief.

then needed it for the first option.

Always, because then if I am in an accident I can be
identified. You know those stupid card-cases that banks
give you when you get a keycard or credit card? It's
perfect for an ID and a $10 note. I take my mobile unless
I'm in a huge group on a day which starts cold and is going
to get hot - not enough pockets for the cold gear later and
the mobile, and the people in the group know who I am for
emergency, etc.

My partner and my parents would probably like to see me in
hospital before I die. Or would like to be there when I wake
up if I'm just unconscious.

But, no partner for me and my 'olds' are 600 kays away with infrequent flights to Melbourne so there's not a lot of point.

If a cop asks a cyclist (me) for ID am I required to have some?

I was breathalysed on the way back to the hotel (driving a rent-a-car) after riding the Alpine Classic. All I had on me for ID was my racing licence (like that's any use to anyone). The copper was pretty cool about it though. He just asked me for my address and wrote it in his little book. I asked if I should drop by the station with my car licence later but he said not to worry.

Nope, because that only gives constable plod a place to send
the helmet/speeding(I wish) fines to and lets him know that
I am not really John Howard, etc. I figure if you feel that
you have to take your id with you when you go bicycling for
when you get knocked down, then it is time to get off your
[censored] and do something about changing the situation.

I carry enough to tell the ambos & hospital what they
need to know..

If the wiff still wants me, then she'll come find me when I
don't come home {:-).

Im allergic to penicillin so that info could come in handy. written on the licence copy

i allways carry my drivers licence credit card and at least $25. i dont carry my blood type cos i dont know it

I don't think so. I mean, you don't need ID or a licence to
ride a bike and you don't need to have a licence anyway,
and if you look your age you don't even need an over 18
card, and it would be ridiculous to carry your birth
certificate around.

Could be.. I have no idea. All I know is that since I was little

A tad dire there, lad.

A ID will help the authorities contact your nearest & dearest.

Help people know whats happened to you. No flowers or visits from your family & friends if they don't know if you're in hospital.

And of course, if you have a existing medical condition, help the medical authorities assist you better.

Or heaven forbid, if events really go wrong when you are cycling with no ID, you can be a John Doe and they'll simply dig a hole on the side of the road .....
