I'm switching from Lipitor 10 mg to Crestor 5 mg. Just saw my doc and
the Crestor drug rep has alread paid a visit. Doc is impressed with
Crestor - esp the lack of side effect. I'll have to split 10 mg
Crestor to 5 mg - save $$$. The "purple pill" people are going to
co-market Crestor with Astra-Zenica. This will be a huge Lipitor vs
Crestor cat fight - I vote for Crestor. After a couple of months on
Crestor 5 mg I'll report my new lipid profile. Good news for me - doc
has plenty of Crestor samples!

I'm hoping "less is more." 5 mg Crestor may work as well as 10 mg
Lipitor - I like the idea of the smaller dose - and of saving $$$ by
splitting 10mg's to get 5's. It's logical to me that 5 mg will have
fewer side effects than 10 mg lipitor - that's only my opinion.
Crrstor is being called a "super statin.""Herb" <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:<[email hidden]>...

It is not true that Crestor has less side effects than other statins. It
has the same side effects and a couple more serious for larger doses. It
is true that Crestor will probably lower LDL considerably.--

Colin,
Good question. I originally took Lipitor cause my chol was 260, HDL
35, Trig 165. With dietary change and 10 mg Lipitor it is now chol
155, HDL 68, Trig 66. I don't appear to have any side effects from
Lipitor. I'm thinking of continuing because 1) I like the possibility
of reversing clogged arteries - from years of eating bad foods
2)statin drugs may prevent Alzeimhers 3) I'm scared from seeing my
sister have 3 strokes before age 50.Colin Rose <[email hidden]> wrote in message news:<[email hidden]>...

Re: alcohol - it's a risk/reward thing. 1.5 oz of alcohol a day is
unlikely to lead to liver damage, and you have regular blood tests
that should catch that. I looked up preventing restenosis - evidently
it's C Reactive Protein not lipids that predicts re-clogging. Alcohol
also reduces CRP, as does tea. See
http://www.usaweekend.com/99_issues/990404/990404eatsmart.html for
strategies that reduce CRP.[email hidden] (M. Schwartz) wrote in message news:<[email hidden]>...

Yep - you're not having your drink a day! I'd wager that increasing
your HDL would improve the chances that your grafts will stay clean
(don't know of any studies, tho.) A drink a day may help boost HDL
and also lower inflammation. Re: side effects Crestor - see
www.crestor.com Crestor boosts HDL more than the older statin drugs.Brad, how many times have I told you that alcohol and Zocor is not
advised because of enhanced possible liver damage? Just check the
literature for whatever statin you are taking.Mel, just tea, no booze 🙂

breakfast. My cardiologist is keeping me on 10 mg of Zocor. I feel 10 mg is a low
dose and not presenting any problem. I'm trying to keep my grafts as
clean as possible.Am I doing something wrong?

The Crestor site has the same disclaimer as the Lipitor site.
"CRESTOR has not been determined to prevent heart disease, heart attacks,
or strokes."If so, then why would any physician prescribe these? Certainly, I don't.

http://www.heartmdphd.com/In my dictionary the words "dysgenics" and
"dyslogistic" are consecutive. So, not to be
dyslogistic, but, who invented
"dyslipidemia," when and why?How does treating "dyslipidemia" help anyone?
Has anyone ever lasted longer when having
been treated for "dyslipidemia?" Why? When?A.L.

http://www.heartmdphd.com/Ahh, but you made it plain that it is all
about HDL recently. So, is "dyslipidemia" low
HDL that needs treatment or is there more to
it? Is it part of the science or is it part
of the system of beliefs?"Dyslipidemia" sound more ominous than "low
HDL." Is it?A.L.
