    Tennis star Pete Sampras retired in his prime, on his own terms.

    Can Lance do that?

    Who are some other big name star athletes that didn't have to be shown the door?

    IIRC, Hinault retired on his 32nd birthday, Nov. 1986.

    Actually Pete Sampras retired because he couldn't win any longer. He hardly
    went out on top.

    Bjorn Bjorg when out while he was still winning.

    And besides why should Armstrong quit. He is still winning.
