    Another early start yesterday (Easter Sunday), left home at 0600 in rain and
    headed west for Dorset. My first thoughts were this is a mistake ..... not
    good weather. However, it soon cleared, and by the time I was parking at
    Corfe Castle it was blue sky and loads of sunshine.

    Left the NT car park at 0730 and set off south to Kingston Village where I
    joined the path out to Houns-tout Cliff. Rather nice bench with a pleasant
    view west on the cliff where I was going to have breakfast, however the wind
    was rather fresh and cold. So, I dropped down a little towards Chapman's
    Pool, found a sunny spot, and had a very pleasant breakfast in the early
    morning sun. Sadly, the clouds had moved in by the time I had finished.
    Food over, it was down to Chapman's Pool, then a steep rise up the cliff to
    continue on the coastal path to St Alban's Head. A long walk east followed
    to Anvil Point, then hugged the coast to Peveril Point where I stopped for
    lunch. Still no sunshine. Lunch over, it was along the seafront of
    Swanage - packed with Easter Sunday trippers - and up onto the Purbeck
    Hills. Joined the Purbeck Way west of Ballard Down and followed the path
    back to Corfe Castle. Great 20 mile hike ........ but the old legs were
    feeling the strain on the final drop down into Corfe Castle. Last long walk
    before jetting off to Nepal on Sunday (I hope considering the situation out
    there!) for a 28 day trekking holiday near Everest. Should be fun.

    A nice one that Sandy, in the spring time

    Ever tried the Corfe - Scotts Arms - Swyre Head - Kimmeridge - Swanage (and
    optional train) back to Corfe as an alternative?

    Lovely views all around on a clear day

    No, never that circuit, although I have done Kimmeridge to Houns-tout then
    into Kingston and back over Swyre Head. Another good circuit. Also, west
    down to Lulworth from Kimmeridge is good, and the cliffs along that section
    (I think) are more dramatic than east from Kimmeridge. However, the coastal
    area from Swanage through to Weymouth is all good walking.
