Agreed. If you can laugh to order (or it really is funny), that would probably

Heh, they're wrapped in 1 1/2 tonnes of safety cage. They shouldn't be
scared. Rather than [censored] people off, the second best thing is to caryr on
unconcerned. The best thing is to carry on unconcerned (tho maybe witha
smug grin). Seriously tho, if you're being beeped at regularly, there's
probably somehting wrong with your riding style. I'm as assertive as they
come, yet I spend the majority of my time in the secondary position.

It's a recommendation. As far as I know, in the UK it's not illegal to
cycle 3 abreast and it's probably not here.

A friend and I were stopped many years ago by a police bike for riding
two abreast along sweeping country lanes, although to be fair we were
cornering the bends rather enthusiastically (well leaned over and quite
far out in the road).

First he just rode alongside and asked us to drop into single file,
which we did, then he zoomed off... two corners later (we were back to
two abreast) he was sitting on his bike waiting for us, gave us a ten
minute lecture on road safety.
