70km/h zones going up can get a little restrictive for ITTing up... oh..
cars.. never found them to be problem.. tho I've only ridden it twice..

It's not heavily trafficed, the worst time is probably Sundays when
grandma and grandpa go for a country drive, or peakhour.

I think the correct pronounciation is "one'n twenny" 😄

I've only ridden there a couple of times, so can't advise on when is best, although when it's raining isn't great...

I thought it was pronouced like the four n twenty pie, one n twenty etc.

Now the best time is probably as early as you can get there on Sunday morning. Sometimes I leave home at 5.30-6.00am and ride to Mt Dandenong via Montrose and then come down the one n twenty about 7.30-8.00am, it was usually peak hour for bikes then.

Sat'dy arvo can also be bad for increased numbers of scone & tea seeking tourists.

I'll have to make an effort to get out there early one weekend morning.

Sunday morning earlish is nice.

Last yeat I did it three or four times with a group that left Bike life in Auburn rd Hawthorn at 07:30 and rode mosly via Cantebury rd and the Mt Hwy to the Basin then up, had a break at the cafe and returned.

The climb was usually pretty quiet for traffic. Some clubs run time trial there an a sunday

by mid morning Cantebury rd was getting unpleasant plus there is a bit of a crowd around the sunday morning market at the Wantirna drive-in.
