I am confused. Maybe I am stupid. Confused and stupid. Can I put a new 10
speed Dura Ace setup on my bike with an Ultegra 9 speed hub? The only bike
store within 100 miles is Wal Mart. I have studied the Harris web site, Mr.
Brown and I still don't get it. I don't want to upgrade and then find that
the 10 speed cassette doesn't fit on my 9 speed hub. Thanks

Campy person not being authoritative, but I think I read somewhere that
the 10-speed cluster has longer "arms" to fit deeper splines in the
10-speed freewheel body. So, a 9-speed cluster would work on a 10-speed
freehub body, but the 10-speed cluster needs the deeper splines of the
10-speed body.BTW, these deeper splines are supposed to be stronger and less
wear-prone than the shallower splines. It is not (necessarily) a dirty
business trick to force you to buy a new hub. -

-DA 10s rear hub-Any shimano 10s cogset will fit-NOT shimano 8 or 9s
cogs.
-Any other 8s shimano HG hub-any shimano 8, 9 or 10s cogset will fit. -

might need work. www.shimano.com has a FAQ and an illustrated 9/10
speed compatibility chart.-Vee
