Early breakfast in Keswick

Seriously, the only cafes I come across that are open
very early are on the motorway. Otherwise it's the back
of the car!

We called in to the hotel at Haweswater yesterday afternoon
for a rather refined coffee, as far from the roaring fire as
we could sit (it was a warm day). I'd forgotten to put the
cooking stuff in the car. I may have got the wrong
impression, but it didn't look like a walkers' hotel. Nice
walk - up High Street via Riggindale Crag, and on over
Mardale Ill Bell and Harter Fell. A couple of buzzards
circling high over the site of the golden eagle hide no
doubt fooled a few of the people below (-:

Can't help you but I wish somebody would start a website of
early opening breakfast sites in the Scottish highlands -
I'm sure a large website would not be required!

What's wanted is the equivalent of Snowdonia's Pete's Eats
in all those places where they'd be most appreciated.

I'm not sure how early it opens... but there's a nice little
family-run 'cafe' (although it looks like a regular house
from the outside) on Main Street. On the left as you walk
away from the town centre, just after the junction with
Heads Road (also on the left). I can't remember what it's
called exactly ('Skiddaw' something probably!), but they do
VERY nice cooked veggie breakfasts (and very nice regular
cooked breakfasts for the meat-eaters).

At least there are some good eating places now. Special
mention has to be made to the Clifton Cafe, something like
that anyway, place in Tyndrum. Well worth a visit after a
day on the local hills or a plod up that section of the West
Highland Way. Another great one is the Ceilidh Place in
Ullapool. Great food and drink all day long, newspapers and
often music. Not to mention an interesting bookshop. Still
roughly in that area is the Lochinver Larder. Food out of
this world. Check out their homemade pies. Now to find
something just as good in the Aviemore area!

There is an early opening cafe in Aviemore, it's above a
gear outlet, "Mountain Restaurant" or something like that
comes to mind. It did the job which was to get a cooked
breakfast into me after a 3 hour drive prior to heading out
into the Cairngorms. It was open about 8am?

Easy.
1. Take packet of cornflakes, carton of milk, bowl, and
spoon out of car
2. Add cereal and milk to bowl
3. Eat using spoon
