I think they already sell that arrangement. I don't know what it is
called but I saw it advertised on a commercial.

See Kili's answer. There is NO best way.

Lean over your plate and hope for the best. (Pray it doesn't crack
down the middle on first bite) Tacos are not a food to nibble. Open
your mouth wide and shove as much instide as you can manage.

    LOL how elegant 🙂))

If Taco Bell is all you care about, ask for their double decker taco; it is
a taco with a soft tortilla (spread with refried beans) wrapped around it.
The beans will help hold the taco shell crumbs together - or, ask them to
delete the beans if you don't like them.

Go to the bathroom and look in the mirror. Ask yourself "When did I
become such an idiot that I cannot figure out how to eat a taco?"

    Seriously.

I have already done that. And I ask again, what is the best way?

If you have already pondered your own stupidity, you're one up on some
    of the folks here.

Funny, but fast food tacos are nearly always either those folded
crispy corn tortillas, or soft flour tortillas. Every time I've
gotten a taco at a real Mexican/Guatemalan/etc. place, it has always
been two 6" soft corn tortillas with stuff on top.

    --Bryan

I like the 2 corn tortilla thing, too, Bryan. Occasionally, though, I like
to fry my corn tortillas in that "half" shape. I add the meat and the
cheese to the corn tortilla, fold it and sort of hold it slightly open in
the skillet with hot oil. It browns and crisps the tortilla, the cheese
melts and the meat heats. Afterwards, I stuff it with lettuce, tomato and
whatever else I have on hand.

Gosh, this is giving me a craving. I want tacos for dinner tonight, now,
    darn it!

What is the best way to eat a hard shell taco (like the crispy one
from Taco Bell, for example)? Should one start from an end, from the
middle, between the end and middle, ...? I.e., what's the best way to
proceed to avoid making a mess?

    AlexM

Easy enough, start from the end have a couple napkins handy- so you
make a mess, not big deal,

Had a Hawaiian friend who once told me, the real test of mastering
chopsticks, was to eat a taco using them.

Never quite seemed to master that.

It's easy. You use the chopsticks to crack the bottom of the taco,
then you eat the contents with the chopsticks. Finally, you can pick
up the empty shells with the chopsticks and eat them. 🙂

I keep them wrapped partially in their papers and start at one end.

Then I eat the messy crumbs. ;-d

Go to your local Taco Bell and buy 3 tacos. With the first taco, start
eating it from one end and move to the other end. With the second
taco, start in the middle on the open side of the taco and eat toward
each end. With the third taco, start in the middle of the folded side
and move to the outer edges. When you're all done, ask yourself which
was the most fun to do. That's the way you should eat them. :/ Eating
a taco is a very personal thing, IMHO. 🙂

    <lol> Excellent advice!

I don't eat fast food tacos, but when I have them in restaurants or at
home, I have an order of soft tortillas on the side and I wrap a taco
in a soft tortilla. Always done that. No mess. BTW, Taco Bell doesn't
have crispy tacos. They have soggy tacos, soaked with grease.

You need to find a new Taco Bell...

Ours makes the best crispy Tacos in town.

    It's all in the management.

Maybe you need training wheels. Order the double-layer tacos -
the ones with a flour tortilla pasted to a hard shell with a
    blob of refried beans.

Lots of Taco Bell ingredients like there beef slime are dehydrated. Just
add water. It's not just grease.

Here's my typical home soft taco spread (old photo).

A little of everything per taco. I roll them up like mini burritos so I can
eat them vertically, tipping in a few drops of Cholula hot sauce for each
    bite.

    Oh goody. Taco pics. :-)

Here's my last batch made with Barbacoa:

Tomato, cheese, lettuce, avocado slices and sliced black olives.
I do cheat tho' and purchase pre-made crispy corn tortilla shells. I
found this handy dandy taco shell plastic rack for stuffing them too! It
    holes 4 shells.

Good pix, except I didn't see venison tacos. I suppose that was the PING:
    Sheldon post I skipped over.

    You certainly love olives!!!

Good to see the "Taco Town" vid again. SNL had yanked their vids from
youtube but obviously somebody circumvented that by changing the title.

A LONG time ago, we'd heat up pita bread on the stove till they inflated
then cut them in half and fill them with taco fixings and hot sauce. The
incredibly delicious, inverted, unspillable tacos! The Greeks got it right!
I should make them again. Forget why I switched back to tacos. Must've been
    on drugs! ;o)

I don't do hotsauce (as most of you know), but my husband eats it by the

It is. Mexicans spit on Tabasco, and so do I.

Melindas is a good brand, as are practically all the hot sauces
from Costa Rica. My most used sauce is Huy Fong Sriracha (from
California). It comes in big 28oz bottles and is much more
economical than those 4oz [censored] bottles that cost $1/serving.

Huy Fong Sriracha? Even the lamest, general grocery stores in my
city carry at least the 18oz bottle. And any Asian market will
    have tons of it.

If you post where you live, somebody's might know to where to get
