  1. What is considered a good (respectable) pace for an almost 46 year old women in a 50 meter pool,
    swimming 7000 meters (nonstop).

:-) How many 46 year old women (or men) are there who regularly swim 7000 meters nonstop? You and
    :who else?

I'm 46, but I only swam 5000 yards today. Much of that was doing 100yd intervals on 1:30, which
amounted to 100's in 1:15-1:20 + rest. That would work out to doing 100 meter sets on 1:40, more or
less. I'm not as fast as I was way back when (and probably not as fast as Larry's 80+ year old
father is now), but I still feel that's quite respectable.

I'd say anything faster than a 100m/1:30 pace would be awesome.

OK. I swam it today in 2 hours and 6 minutes, after doing 5 miles on my elliptical trainer. It is
interesting because some people that I pass in short course are harder for me to pass in long
course, so I figure my turns are better than my stroke.

That's a 100m/1:48 pace, which is still impressive considering you were already tired. (Frankly,
just finishing 7000m puts you way ahead of most of us.) You can hold your head up with pride. :-)

You had to pass people in your lane? That would also slow you down.

  9. No, I was fortunate to have my own 50m lane but I look to the side as I swim to see who is in the
neighboring lanes, in between songs I play in my head and statistical and other problems I try
working on---just to pass the loooooooooong time.
