Ergo with 7 speed Shimano

If you can find 8s shift and old geometry RD, it spaces perfectly with 7s, just discard one click. I
waste the high tension extra click. Tom

This is actually pretty easy, because Campagnolo 8-speed cassettes have the same 5 mm
sprocket-to-sprocket spacing as Shimano 7-speed.

All you need is a pair of 8-speed Ergo briftas and a Campagnolo rear derailer.

Is it still possible to get the internal Ergo gear widget thing for 8 speed? I'm planning in the
future to do another bike as 10 speed, so I could always get a 10 speed Ergo, and have the internal
piece changed to "downgrade" it to 8 speed. That way I'll also have a spare part for when I do go 10
speed on another bike.

Is an old geometry Campagnolo RD absolutely necessary, or could I possibly still use my Dura-Ace RD
and use the cable rerouting trick talked about for 9 speed conversions?

Had I known of your 10s intentions,my advice would have been: 9s shifter/DA RD with no trick for 7s,
10s/cable trick for 9s Shimano, camp RD for 10s. Happy gruppo-busting!

From the table below, new campag brifters (marked 9 speed) should give very good indexing with a
Shimano rear der on a 7 speed cassette. Caution: I believe some Dura Ace rear ders were not the same
ratio as other Shimano.
