Michael Warner said:BTW, I read somewhere that hundreds of office workers died in
the WTC attack because they were too fat and unfit to walk
down the stairs. Ok, running upstairs requires some fitness
(I've tried building racing!) but downstairs? That's really sad.
I was unfortunate enough to get caught in a fire drill back when I was
working for Ericsson, on the 40-something floor of the Daimaru office
building (the one above Museum[1] station). Let's just say that I paced
myself, and made sure that I stretched afterwards; I could very easily
have ended up stiff and sore after that effort, and count myself lucky
that I didn't.
The WTC was, what, 90+ floors? I would not have wanted to take the
stairs from the higher floor levels if it could possibly have been
avoided, no matter how fit I might have been.
[1] It's not Melbourne Central Station, damnit! I refuse to call a
station after a shopping centre!
