I just woke up, so no intention to ride this morning 🙂 yesterday also had a rear blowout in Kensington after a reasonably easy ride to Mordy and back, except for a couple of patches where I was forced to lay the law down..if your going to challenge, you better make sure you can back it up 🙄

There was an explosion just behind me yesterday in the hell ride, up
near the frontish of the peleton. Didn't hear anyone go down nastily
though!

I just remembered: I invoked the puncture god (obviously by proxy)
this morning, while waiting at the start with Blah (we were whinging
about being early, and getting cold. I said I leave about 10 minutes
earlier than I could get away with usually, just incase I have a flat.
But I don't know why I do that, because I haven't had a flat since I
first started riding BRs).

take any turns on the front to help, because then he'll use the
opportunity to drop me!".

Broken glass close into the gutter is sharper than the stuff 'worn' down by vehicle traffic further out on the lane. And Saturday nights bogan droppings are always a pain in the [censored] on Sunday morn.

Items of note were:
1, Blinded by the sun on the hill outside the school in Donvale.
Couldn't see the road and a very scary 5 mins when car drivers with no
visibility came up the hill too fast. GPL, Tim and Blah went with the
theory that if I was 50m behind the cars would slow down after they hit me.

2, GPL ate cakes at Smiths Gully. That's kind of like Jan Ullrich going
on a vegan diet.

3, A learner in a Prado nearly took me out trying to overtake me on a
roundabout, but ended up doing something very nasty to the gearbox and
coming to a complete halt.

4, I did a PB on the climb out of Diamond Creek and overtook Blah and
TimC (can't recall ever overtakign anyone along that section)

It was quite scenic though! It's like that APOD picture of the sun
shining directly down nth avenue -- it was aligned perfectly. Come
tomorrow, that alignment won't be there anymore.

It was amazing how quickly every single car was going, given that they
would have had no visibility whatsoever -- it really highlights just
how irresponsible your average motorist is. At least the bicycles
ahead might have cast some sort of shadow.

Did you have any harsh words with them -- I didn't see the action? If
he learnt that he did something very wrong, perhaps he'll be slightly
more careful around cyclists in future.

For several minutes while the kid learnt how to start the engine
again. Then came to a halt uphill when they passed us 5km up the
road. I should have been advising them in very certain terms that
they swap drivers and teach the kid to drive in a slightly more
manegable vehicle, perhaps off public roads before they take someone
out.

I do have a good excuse though, but it puts me on an equal footing
with lama -- we both did the hell ride yesterday. Evidentally, I
didn't eat enough recovery tuna (i.e., none) -- a problem I am
rectifying now.

But the other excuse I regularly use is that being a smallarse
lightshit, I'm all surface area (hence, wind resistance), and no
volume and hence power generation capacity. Which translates to
horrible time trialing ability.

However, my hair is more aerodynamic than lama's parachute jacket.
Coming down that hill on diamond ck road after the roundabout, lama
got a gap of 15 metres. I was out of his slip stream, but I got down
nice and low, hands next to stem, stopped pedalling, and lama soon
after stopped pedalling. Before the bike lane, I was overtaking him.
And green light at the bottom! Whoo!
