If you could have any three people over for a dinner party, who would they

Besides my family? Of living people, I would choose Richard Dawkins,
Janeane Garafolo, and Penn Jillette.

Assuming that the guests must be still living and that there should be some
chance that an international forum would know them: Barry Jones, Andrew
Denton and Geoffrey Robertson. Not that I have anything against women but I
have chosen to add the condition that they must be fellow countrymen and
those are the first three who came to mind. All are large egos to be sure
but all able to listen as well as talk so you would be able to get a word
in.
I would serve fresh spring rolls, carpachio, boulliabase and crepes with
orange-brandy sauce. This is on the basis that I can do them well and much
could be pre-prepared so that I wasn't stuck in the ktchen half the night.

Cat Stevens, Adolf [censored], and Bob Barker.
The menu would be smoked pork loin or pulled pork.

I'll won't have to serve anything when I invite
Jackie Mason, Grouch Marx, and Jackie Martling (Jackie the Joke Man)
They'll serve themselves up.

A. J. Cook, Katherine Heigl and Bill Clinton. The first two are the
most attractive actresses I know of. It would be nice to be in the
same room with them. It would also be nice to see Bill Clinton in a
room with two such lovely young ladies.
I would start with a simple salad of leaf, romaine and iceberg
lettuces, locally grown tomatoes, and a very light dressing of just
EVOO and freshly squeezed lemon juice, with some shaved whole milk
mozzarella on top.
Then I'd serve either:
1. Beef tenderloin fillets, cooked as they like over seasoned
hickory, with mashed potatoes and beef gravy.
or
2. Corn meal breaded Icelandic cod, fried in peanut oil and drenched
in melted butter, with fresh lemon wedges and a generous pile of
pommes frites. I'd have Heinz ketchup and a shaker of popcorn salt
on the table for the fries.
In either case, plenty of nice ice water and Bell's Pale Ale on hand,
and also wine, though I'm so ignorant about wine that I'd have to
consult my nephew on the choice.
Dessert would be a mixed berry (raspberry, blackberry, blueberry) fool
(made with Chambord) with slices of fresh peaches stuck in it around
the sides (heck, I don't know fancy words for presentation), in nice-
sized (large) ramekins. Brewed Sumatran coffee, with heavy cream,
sugar and Splenda available.
Since this has become (was to begin with) just some outrageous
fantasy, I'd persuade them all to talk about political economy,
personal freedom, and then I'd play a bunch of music for them that I'd
pre-selected, we'd all get stinking drunk and...my description ends
there.

Just two: Julia Child and Justin Wilson, for a cook in. With *lots* of
decent red jug-wine.

My family and best friends.
Steaks and cornish game hens.
There would be more than just 3 people. :-)

I'd invite Damsel, Barb, Margaret, then Killi, Christine, and Sheldon. Party
three would consist of all other RFCers in their turn, at 1 hour intervals
so that by the end of the day it would be one big cook in! Cathy could
arrive by private jet from SA.
If I ever win the Euro millions that's what I'd try and arrange! Andy
wouldn't need a JOD for that event I'm sure!
I think none celebrity ( I know Barb is a bit of a celeb' but until she gets
her own TV show it doesn't count) guests would be far more interesting!

Well if we run out of interesting stuff, we can always bore everyone about
nursing! We must have Gumba to check out the ER perspective!

As I thought about it, I couldn't begin to narrow it down to three people.
Eleanor Roosevelt
Ghandi
Winston Churchill
Desmond Tutu
Amy Tan
Julia Child
Margaret Sanger
Paul Newman
Guess I'd better put a couple more leaves in the table.

Living or dead? Since it is fantasy, I'd say anyone is allowed.
Ben Franklin
Jesus
Paul Harvey
The food would be something easily prepared ahead and served so as not to
detract from the dinner conversation. Prime rib roast, potatoes, veggies,
my best red wine.

Ben Franklin

Churchill
Stendahl
Chaucer
Madame de Stael
Emil Fisher (yeah, you've never heard of him, but he did the Fisher
proofs for elucidating the configurations of various sugars, and it was
really beautiful science, and the only time I held my breath during orgo
lectures (it was so amazingly simple) and I've always wanted to meet him.)
I assume they'd mostly be riveted to Churchill getting them up to date
on the story of the world. So...booze, a good chop and potato, and I'd
be too agape to eat a bite.

Here's an answer - in addition to my friends my three special guests would
be;
Mark Twain
Pablo Picasso
Ludwig Van Beethoven
I think the conversation would be exciting. I'd have a piano in the room in
case Ludwig felt like playing something. I'd have a bunch of napkins for
Pablo in case he felt like doodling. I'd have some fine cigars for Mark and
some good bourbon to go with them.
For the meal I'd serve a fish course first; maybe some grilled sardines with
olives and onions. Then, braised veal shank and lentils with a green salad.
Lots of good red wine, bread, and dirty jokes. Dessert would be a selection
of gelato and fresh fruit with strong coffee.
Anyone who would enjoy my guests is invited as well!

You probably want a lot of salad and fruit -- Twain was a vegetarian.

Mark & Pablo are so full of themselves that I couldn't even glance at them.
The only one of the three that I would be intersted in would be Lood-wig. I
couldn't wait to ask him:
How does he feel about his father boxing his ears, did he despise him, or
did he forgive him, or did he not waste any time crying over spilt-milk.
Then I would leave -- unless he played a nice cantible.

Could I serve the food? I'd be so happy to be with those 3. Esp.
Beethoven while he explained what made him make the music🙂. But I
love art and Picasso would be a treat and Mark Twain- he mentioned
good Kona coffee waaaaaaaaay before any one knew about it.
