I'm a student at Missouri State University and I've been assigned by my
professor to ask all of you in this group where your favorite place in
Europe or the world to travel???? Thank you!!

I had no idea that college courses had got so challenging that the
students are now required to post questions in new groups about their
    favourite FITB.

It is impossible to select one favorite from:

    1972 Escondidinho, Oporto, Portugal

1973 San Juan, Puerto Rico, rooftop restaurant at the Sheraton? (Can't
remember which hotel, too many pina coladas, but it was divine)

    1983 Ventana, Big Sur, California

1995 George's on the Cove, La Jolla, California

    ~1995 Dandelion, Boulder, Colorado

So far you've asked different groups about favorite place to travel, to
snowboard, to eat. What, pray, are you really up to? Oh and your
"professor" if there is such a person.

US Army mess hall, Ft. Lewis Washington, March 1969; steak (medium-rare),
baked potato w/sour cream and chives, steamed broccoli and cauliflower,
ice-cold milk and a brownie topped with vanilla ice cream for dessert.

Probably not the highest quality ingredients and the decor could have been
better. However, after a year of eating few meals other than cold US Army
    MRE's (meal-ready-to-eat, which were either canned C-rations or freeze-dried
stew-like stuff) in Vietnam, it was heavenly.

In the back yard of a gite in Provence. It was a baguette with
butter, some coffee, and some cherries we'd picked off a tree in the
nearby orchard. D had a pain au chocolate instead of the baguette and
butter. I think it was the ambience. Or some other je ne sais

Many years ago at the Trade Center Building in San Francisco. A room that
seemed as long as a gymnasium that was a buffet. I've never since seen
anything like it. I thought that was it. But when we went to our tables,
after filling our plates with the buffet food, then they came and took our
order. It was extraordinary. I wonder if it is still going on. This
must've been around 1985. Stunning buffet. Visually beautiful food.

You don't have to travel far. You're already in the Missouri Ozarks.
Just get the heck out of creepy-ass Springfield and go east. Hercules
    Glades.
The couple of miles down from Roaring River St. Park on Roaring River
is a great paddle too. If you've got young children, head down to
Eureeky Springs, a little toy town with trolleys, and the best
    restaurant in Arkansas, Ermilio's.

You left out an "S" and instead put a space. Usenet may or may not be
forgiving. Profs seldom are : )

Seriously, you should drive down to Eureka Springs to dine at
Ermilio's. Take a good friend or 2 or 3, or a significant other with
you. Phone to check their hours first. They're not even very
expensive, and if you go off season (not now), you can get premo
lodging at a good rate too. I'd suggest the Crescent Hotel, where you
can get a nice breakfast the next morning. There's a fantastic
Guatemalen taco trailer in Brooksville, AR. that you should hit on the
way back. She's right in the square, and she's a bit chintzy on the
hot sauce, and charges for extra, but it's SO worth paying extra for
    more.

If you go west, just before you get into Rogers, AR. there is a killer
Mexican taqueria on the right. The salsas are A+. Just get out of
Springfield, and bypass the crappiness of Branson, and you can feel
lucky that you're so close to the places I just described.

Oh, I'm from St. Louis, and we go to those places.
