  1. I want to add to my collection so what are your favourite hot sauces? I
have: Tabasco pepper sauce, Tabasco green pepper sauce, Whoop Ass
Chipotle Fire, Ass Kickin' Original, Baldom Salsa Picante, Frank's Hot
    Sauce, and Grace Scotch Bonnet.

  2. Cholula with the wooden ball as the lid. Super good on eggs or popcorn.

My current favorite is an almost fluorescent green habanero sauce called
"El Yucatan", I think. There's also a natural reddish version that is
hotter, but IMHO the green tastes better. I'll have to check the bottle
when I get home to see if the I got the name right.

I have a bottle of Dave's Insanity Sauce on my desk at work; I add one
big drop to a 12 ounce bowl of any kind of soup from the company cafeteria.

I mail order the right wing sauce and the left wing sauce from here. I
visited the storefront on vacation and all the stuff to taste was amazing!

  5. El Yucateco ? I like their stuff as well. I just picked up their
chipotle sauce, but have yet to use it. Except for the odd colors their
stuff has always been good, IMO. Also, they are fairly priced.

I don't like Dave's Insanity sauce. It is an almost flavorless bottle
full of chemically processed oleoresin of capscaicin. There are plenty
of very hot sauces that still manage to have a good flavor. For example
the Mo Hotter Mo Better Habanero sauce it hot and still tastes
    excellent.

Other's I also like are Buffalo Chipotle Sauce. It has a very good
flavor, good amount of heat, and it costs less than most. Scorned
Woman, good heat, a very spicy/herby flavor (you can see the herbs and
spices in the sauce), but not as cheap as the others.

Finally a firend brought me a bottle of Red Savina Habanero Sauce back
from Arizona. I don't see any address or company name on it, but the
lable and such look professionally done. It is very hot, and very
tasty, and I wish I could buy another bottle. The only complaint I had
is that it was corked, and the cork got crusty and started to stick a
    bit.

Oh yeah! My fave Latin hot sauce. The only problem is its insane
price. It costs almost $3.75 for a 5oz bottle off the market shelf
here in CA. I once bought a 1qt bottle from a restaurant in OR, but it
seems they don't make that size anymore. I've been checking their
website and it appears the best way to overcome the ridiculous mark-up of
greedy supermarkets is to buy a case of 1/2 gal jugs. That should
    last a few years.

OBfood: This morning's breakfast consisted of a large slice of
buttered whole wheat toast topped with half an avocado, all mashed up,
and drizzled with fresh lime juice and Cholula hot sauce.

Original Tabasco, always. I don't want a pepper sauce that overpowers the
taste of anything. No point to Scotch Bonnet peppers other than to fry your
taste buds, IMO. Then what is the point of the food?

Thanks for the link Teri! Oh my, I might just have to join the hot
sauce of the month club. They will use USPS too instead of a courier
service unlike originaljuan.com. I just might have to do a little
    online shopping today 🙂

The food is just a vehicle for the hot sauce. (it's poor form to swig
the hot sauce from the bottle, and it doesn't last as long that way)

Oh, you don't know what you are missing! The Scotch Bonnet sauce has a
delightful fruitiness that goes quite nicely with chicken. You don't
necessarily have to use it as a sauce either. It can be used as an
ingredient to boost the flavours without adding a lot of heat. I made a
pork loin with a peach chutney and a little scotch bonnet sauce to round
out the sweetness. It was fabulous. DH loved it and he won't even
touch anything spicy! It is very good stuff!

One builds up a tolerance for high capsaicin peppers. I remember when
I first tasted Tabasco. About blew my head off. Now, all these years
later, it's barely hot to me. I like it for the flavor. I'm sure
it's the same with the hotter peppers and sauces. But, I have no
desire to torture my body just to work my way up to peppers ten times
hotter than my current tolerance just to say I can. Some of that
stuff is ridiculous. I once tried a jar of 911 Jamaican Jerk, a
sauce/marinade made with scotch bonnet and pablano peppers. That
stuff just plain *hurt* ....all the way through! Screw that.

Inner Beauty Hot Sauce: It's a mango-habañero-based sauce with a bit of a
    curry flavor.

    Bufalo Chipotle Hot Sauce

Dat'l Do It Hot Sauce: It's not really very hot, but it's got a unique
flavor from the datil peppers used to make it. Maybe it's a Florida thing.

Key West Is Goin' Bananas Hot Sauce: Yes, it's really made with bananas.
    Also habañeros, chipotles, and tamarind.

Someone else mentioned Cholula and Scorned Woman, so I'll just
    say "me too" on those.

I'm fond of the Tabasco Chipotle and Tabasco Habanero. The chipotle
has good flavor and decent heat. The habanero is incindiary, but
not so outrageously so as to be unusable. (YMMV)

What's near the top of my all-time favorite list, though,
for taste and convenience to carry around, is pure powdered
chipotle chiles. I buy that in one-pound bags from a place
in New Mexico ("Los Chileros de Nuevo Mexico", loschileros.com)
and keep a little picnic pepper shaker of it on my desk at work,
in the car, etc. Great for perking all manner of foods.

What you need is not Dave's, but Pure Cap. It adds only heat, not
flavor. I used to use Dave's before I discovered it. You can keep
every single one of the hot sauces that is made with vinegar. I think
of all of them as yuppie Tabasco.

That is certainly true, and while the tolerance takes a while to get
really high, you lose a lot of it pretty quickly if you stop eating cap
    for a while.

It is. I could dring a bottle of tabasco straight down, not that I
would, as I insist on freshly made, not pickled hot sauces.

That's not the reason to do it. When you get your tolerance up high
you don't suffer any ills from cap, just pleasurable sensations. It's
great for thickening the stomach lining, which makes one more ulcer
resistant, and just gives an all around feeling of well being.

I have gone way above my tolerance a few times, and once it was really
miserable. It was at a place in Joplin, MO. They had a burrito
    called, The Sizzler.

I like Pickapeppa as well, but had no idea that anybody thought of it as a
hot sauce. (My favorite Pickapeppa use is to put a couple drops on a
    soft-boiled egg.)
