Kewl! We had bike-lifting, free fruit juice-giving politicians down in Yarra today! The local campaign to replace those ruddy Gipps St steps goes a level up and it's all good from YarraBUG's perspective. π

Oow, whatβs the fix?
Ramp like at Walmer St (end of Burnley St) ?
Tunnel ? β as is the hot thing for traffic management nowadays but where will the e-tag be fitted?
Will there be a detour β or path continuation β to Burnley St?
Only day off I had all week & they were giving away free OJ, the price of a sleep in, eh?

We're after a similar design as Walmer St: ramps. $100K (50K from Yarra Council & 50K from State Gov) is going towards the feasibility study & design as the riverbank is unstable etc. Think about, 100 years+ of builders rubble & weeds. Richard Wynne believes the whole lot, including the path extension around to Flockhart Street can be done in two years. CUB are positive about the path, but a lot hangs on homeowners who have pre-1850's property rights to the riverbank. Salta recently purchased the old MFB training college and they're also keen on riverbank bicycle access. Tunnel? Not on yer nelly!
