I can't say that I'm a fan of Look pedals. I have tried them but I soon
went back to the Time pedals. Looks just didn't feel right for me (I think
it may have been the increase in stack height that was reason). The Keywin
CRMs are fixed (I've got them set in fixed mode) and have a similar stack
height to the Time pedal. The lack of float took a little to get used to
but now for Track use I think they are great. If I was to get another set
for the road I would give the floating mode a try.
GemmaK: Did you end up getting a set of Keywins? I noticed you had bid on
some on Ebay a while back.

Velocity don't seem to do 27". I could always bin-scab some but I'd
like new ones..
Weinmann and Sun made some good 27" rims but I can't say that I've seen any
profile other than a box section. The ones on my fixie are Weinmann (made
in Belgium) and have eyelets. If your after a set of 27s I guess you'll be
looking at secondhand but you never know what you might find new in the
right bike shop (Abbotsford Cycles or similar). Getting the hole count to
match your hubs might be a bit tricky though.

If your looking at aero type clincher rims for training on that are also
good as a racing spare my suggestion would be a road rim along the lines of
a Mavic CXP22 or CXP33, Velocity Deep-V or anything similar. From what I've
seen there are not too many track specific clincher rims out there.

Yeah, those singles have Record hubs and live in my
spare bedroom. They might be used if I ever get good
enough to race on a track suited to them but I don't
know anything about singles so my fear of the unknown
prevents me using them elsewhere... plus the tyres cost
too much (so I've heard..).
If you are not too sure about the condition of these wheels and the tubulars
attached get them checked by your man at Croydon Cycleworks and see if he'll
show you what you need to know about them. Once you know these wheels are
safe to ride and the Blackburn track is dry and clear of broken glass give
them a try. You WILL enjoy the ride. If they are decent tubulars they will
ride very nicely. Yes, they can be expensive but so is a good clincher
tyre. Personally I use the Continental Tempo, a hard wearing tyre thats good
on both concrete and boards, which retails around the $135 mark but there
are other options at lower prices as well as much higher prices (eg Andre
Dugast)
As far as tracks that are suited to tubulars I have to say they all are,
however some tyre tread compounds will last longer than others when used on
concrete. I will pretty much always race on tubs with the exception of
midweek racing at Coburg where there always seems to be glass on the track.
