It's in my nabe and I'm a fan and all, but anybody else find it kinda
funny that he's having it in a brewery?

At least it's not an Amstel brewery.

I find the whole thing kind of funny but not in the amusing way. I've
read through a couple of iterations of his defense and it's frankly not
all that strong (to my eyes). On the other hand, if his defense team's
assertions are true then the evidence against him is full of holes too.

I find it most peculiar, however, that the hearing hasn't happened. I
don't know that the Constituional guarantee of a speedy trial applies
here, but it baffles me that was are more than six months out and the
USADA hasn't pulled their thumbs out of their asses to have the hearing
and to settle it.

FWIW I think that Floyd is guilty of doping. I also think that every
one of the other riders in the Tour is also guilty of doping. Floyd's
doctor just wasn't as sharp as the other team docs. I'm tempted to say
"they're adults, they're professionals, let 'em dope." When the sport
ceases to exist, the problems will be solved. Ditto the rest of
professional sports. Anybody who thinks the Bears and the Colts weren't
doped to the eyeballs on Sunday is naive. All of professional sports
could go away and I wouldn't particularly miss them.

Based on my training and discussions with people who worked in drug
testing, I think WADA and the lab are in a world of hurt. If it were a
criminal matter, the "evidence" would have been tossed by now. However,
I understand the managers usually testify, and will lie like a dog if
necessary to protect their lab's "reputation."

It's a civil matter, not criminal, and it's in arbitration, not a
courtroom; so constitutional concerns are right out. Not that my
opinion matters, but I think UCI should reconsider its "toss them out on
any allegation" stance based on Operation Puerto and the way the Landis
case is being dragged out. (Oops, almost said "drug out" there!) Pay
the cyclists a minimum salary, and put the rest into escrow, or
something like that, but don't throw out 3/4 of the top contenders based
on allegations that are later thrown out of court.

I thought that the event was worthwhile.
Floyd received a warm welcome as "the winner of the Tour de France
2006".
Everyone involved from the Floyd side was candid, even when questions
were posed by The Press. It seemed to me to be a straightforward
discussion without (pre-)screened questions.

No less than 8 beers were featured (at no additional charge beyond the
cover).

I believe that he has competent people on staff (on the foundation)
that believe in his cause.

Even if Floyd is guilty, the points that he raises with respect to
WADA and USADA are worth consideration.
If you deny that, you deserve to go through what he is dealing with
personally.

I unfortunately was outbid on the autographed bottle of Jack Daniels.

At least Pitt defeated WVU (at wvu) this evening.
