My lab does that. Not really barking, but long noises along with the
opening and closing of the mouth.

The corgie we cared for for my sister's family was also very "vocal"
    without barking. ;-)

Funny how those noises can sound like words eh?

I get that stuff all the time from our new dog. He's a big talker.
My favorite is when he make a Wookie sound just like Chewbacca.

Is that when you dress up in your Yoda outfit?

Got a sound bite of it?

I wish I had had a way to digitally record some of Chelsea's
vocalizations. <sigh> The kids took her back to Arizona with them last
    weekend. I miss her...

Fortunately, they were every bit as charmed as I was and have fallen in
    love with her.

What kind of dog is your new dog?

  9. We had a boxer that said "mama" and was interviewed for the Ed Sullivan show
when I was a little girl.

    Boxers are neat...
We knew a pair of them in Colorado that belonged to the neighbors and
would follow us on long walks.

Used to upset the owners when their dogs would vanish for a couple of
hours but hey, we could not stop them from following us!

You don't want your dogs to wander, don't let them run free. ;-)

    What was your Boxers name?

No. He doesn't do it on command.

He does it when you tug on his "boyz", so just do that.

Your dog looks like it has been victimized. You need to use some lube or
maybe just lay off the poor thing altogether.

He'd get biblical with a light post if it'd hold still long enough.
