Why when I can buy good shrimp locally for $4.99 to $6.99 per lb.
depending on the size, and I don't have to pay for gas to drive there?
    ;-)

And I'm not paying for shrimp heads that are inedible?

Have you ever had fresh shrimp boiled or steamed in the shell? Silly
question, because if you had, you would see the flaw in your logic.

Commercial aside... I go to a local Chinese buffet and have platefulls of
decent size peel and eat shrimp, instead of the rice and noodle dishes that
most eat. Geez I must eat 2 lbs of shrimp for the $5.99 lunch buffet price!

Sure, here in Tidewater Virginia we have fresh shrimp all the time and
many restaurants and night spots serve all-you-can-eat boiled shrimp
that you eat as you peel the shell off. But they still have the heads
    cut off before they're boiled.

Not completely true. Crustaceans run about 0.1 gram of carb
per ounce. Very low but not zero. For a full meal of shrimp
or crab or lobster you should probably count the meat as 1
gram. Fat also may be low but also isn't zero.

Yup. Deep fried during a fondue dinner works well, too.
