Every color, every pattern, and every symbol has a friendship meaning.

I found Barry and her artwork at an art show in Hadden Heights, NJ about 10
years ago and bought every egg she had on display and gave them out to my
good friends at Christmas.

They are actual eggs that are coated in layers of different colored waxes
and carved at each layer with an exacto knife. Each egg takes her on
average 30 hours of labor she told me. Each egg came with a slip of paper
legend for the Friendship Egg recipient to decipher the Friendship Egg
meanings.

These are the few left of the two dozen I purchased that I decided to keep.

I don't suppose the beast on the egg on the far left and me are friends
anymore! <VBG>

It's a rare and exquisite fine art and I've seen Barry at other shows but
refrained from more purchases, so others can share in her magic Friendship
Eggs.

haven't you ever seen those?

They are dyed in a progression of dyes from light to dark, with melted
wax being applied with a special tiny funnel tool to mask areas to
remain a particular color.

Example, apply wax to areas to remain white, dunk in yellow dye and dry,
apply wax to areas to remain yellow, dunk in red dye and dry, etc. until
you reach the black dye.

When it's complete it's warmed and the wax is wiped off, leaving the
finished design and a shiny protective wax coat.

Purty, but I'm not sure those should take that long
unless there's a step we're not being told about.

We used to make the Ukrainian easter eggs and they'd take
an hour or so, and weren't much less complex than those.
