A fairly local to me gym specializes in moving objects, dragging sleds and
chains, picking up rocks and some "strongman" type stuff like log lifting.
Looks like it might be an interesting training twist.

However I'm not sure if it will be any better than going in my back yard
and dragging the steel beams, lifting unwieldy objects, loading the trailer
up with bargains from the last auction and taking them to the dump, etc..
Dragging big chains or a weighted sled seems fairly straightforward. It's
not difficult to maintain decent form dragging something in a straight line.
Moving irregular objects, OTOH, seems to be the easiest route to lower back
pain, especially when those objects can exert some leverage. I'd like to see
if these guys have worked out any techniques beyond the usual common sense
lifting advice.
