FYI Melb: Foot/Cycle Bridge Closed

Never heard it called the cutting of death, but how true. It's not so
bad in summer where there is at least some chance of being seen, but in
winter with peak hr traffic that's one of the scariest stretches of road
I've ridden on. I take Hoddle St and Johnstone St (extra 2 km's) just to
avoid it. That climb up into Kew from the bridge is just too much with a
full set of panniers.

Actually I ride that home most days and find it fin

All the cars are stationary and you just ride up the middle o
them (they NEVER leave enough space on the left even after jus
passing you!!!

the little walkway up the hill on the left of the road (immedialtey eas
of bridge) is a killer with a load o

The only real problem I have is people changing lanes without signallin
cos there's a tram to get by..

I have however only ridden citybound a couple of times and soon realise
its a NO-G

Does anyone know what's being done to the bridge? Arrived there at around
11.30 am today and had to go across the river via the 'cutting' (which was
pretty relaxed at that time of day).
