Garage forecourt pumps

Thats pretty funny. Some engineers revenge on cyclists I suppose. Or maybe they specifically designed it that way. So cyclists wouldn't get there precious free air.

No, but I inflated two tyres on one of these pumps yesterday. The first was
dead flat and the pump did nothing when I had cranked the preset fill
pressure to 60 PSI (max).

The other tyre had some air in it, and the pump worked on that one.

I then noticed the "fill from empty" button. Tried it on the flat. It did
seem to fill the tyre pretty quickly, but I simply disconnected the doover
from the valve when the tyre felt tight. I then set the pump to 60 and
finished inflating the tyre.

Then of course - the hard bit. Pumping beyond the 60 PSI.

MTB, not road bike
i doubt the air at a garage would go much over 120psi so a road bike
shouldnt have a problem.

Yes. Dandenong Police Paddocks in Melbourne. Riding down hill on gravel, not
really watching as I had just ridden up it 5 minutes before, then had a
"hmmm what's that? [censored]!!!!!" moment. Got the front wheel over him but I
think I got him with the back wheel, if I did it was about centre, but he
was gone by the time I got back. of course then I got a stick in my sock and
almost jumped off the bike lol

wouldnt have a clue. black, maybe brown, maybe yellow underside with some

Well, we're both using OE6.

I have it set to post to usenet in quoted-printable, so that links aren't broken with a linefeed. Not ideal, but I manage on a 1600x1200 screen and no one has ever complained. Although OE will produce quoted-printable, maybe it can't handle it correctly for replies. Or maybe what you're experiencing IS correct. I don't know.

I'm also using OE-Quotefix...

great. It automatically wraps the text and is generally better at
handling newsgroup posting than OE.

Having said that, your text scrolls right off the screen in an unbroken
line! :S I manually wrapped it. Oh well.. win some, lose some.

What's the address book like for Thunderbird? I've been thinking of switching for that alone. All my email addresses are in Windows Address Book, which will only export default addresses - so I'm going to have to go through 400 contacts by hand to manually extract secondary email addresses.

I've know this for some time, and it's not a trap I want to fall into again. I keep looking for a good contact manager that has good import/export abilities and ideally keeps the data in a separate file with separate executables for use on different platforms (I keep my WAB on my USB thumbdrive for use wherever I happen to be).

QP on usenet truly sucks. Any sane news reader can post links without
them getting wrapped, without breaking posting for almost every other
reader out there.

free (is it free?) spyware downloaderer.

It's got to be better than the new google groups though. Please at
least tell me that.

Like all newsreaders I know of, OE can't search the bodies of messages not downloaded - but otherwise I prefer it over gooja.

Well, it's not great, but I've been using it since before I knew better (over six years). I understand its (in)security - I've never had a virus or worm. I do get frustrated by its limitations, but have never managed to switch to anything else.

The last time I tried was with 40tude Dialog, which seems to be the current favourite with usenet junkies. It was recommended to me by several people, and it covered all my criteria. The problem was the default install, which was so far from the quick, clean OE interface I'm used to, that even after several days of tweaking it was still taking me twice as long to get through scanning and reading the various news groups I habituate.

All the other newsreaders I've looked at recently have left something to be desired. IE to Firefox was easy, maybe OE to Thunderbird will be. I'll have to try it soon.
