  1. I've always wondered what is the cause of face emaciation and how do
you reverse this, especially since girls are telling me I look
emaciated in the face (but not in my body)

I've asked this before and I've always been answered the cause is
losing too much fat, but it doesn't make sense to me
    Here's what I have noticed/read

Victims of shipwrecks who get lost in a island till they're saved
becomes very emaciated in their face and have gaunt cheeks

There are models/actress that have gaunt faces, but the one with gaunt
faces usually have higher BF levels than the lean ones with a
    "full-round face"
    (Clarissa Flockhart vs Lucy Lawless)
There are actress which have BF levels below 7% and they don't look
emaciated or gaunt, on the other hand some of the emaciated looking
girls have BF levels higher than 15%

Aneroxic people usually loook very emaciated and gaunt and yet their BF
level is often higher than 20% (as showed in clinical studies)

Children have notosiously full round faces (I just have to look to my
old photos and my cheeks are round and full) and people believe this is
because of baby fat. Not true again, because those children that are
involved in competitive sports like young basketball players or russian
gymnastic have at the age of nine or ten BF levels that are lower than
9% and yet they don't look emaciated at all not in their body nor in
    their face

On the other hand there are no-sport children who look gaunt without
any apparent reason and spite of high levels of baby fat

On the other hand bodybuilders have not high BF levels and high lean
body mass levels and still many of them look gaunt and have drawn faces

Putting all of this together it seems that the reason for face
emaciation is neither lack of fat or lack of muscle and you can't
    workout the face anyway.
So what does people with emaciated face and drawn cheeks do to reverse
    this condition?

It may seen a stupid question but it's rather important for me
    Thanks

Collagen injections...have fat from yer [censored] injected into your
cheeks...take cyclosporine (that does it for me - klingon eyebrows are
    an added bonus).

I'm going to die rather sooner than I'd like. I tried to protect my
neighbours from crime, and became the victim of it. Complications in
hospital following this resulted in a serious illness. I now need a bone
marrow transplant. Many people around the world are waiting for a marrow
transplant, too. Please volunteer to be a marrow donor:

That is because the muscle tissue is starved away.
If you go on a crash diet, you will end up with a skyrocketing % of bodyfat,
since the amount of bodyfat stays the same or even decreases a bit. If you
lose 20 pounds of muscle with 5 pounds of 5 fat, the percentage will rise.
If you lose a lot of water, the % will rise.

This is interesting so I was right that having full cheeks is not due
to fat but to muscle and that it's actually muscles that fill the face
    cheek bones

But now I wonder: there are many people out there with emaciated face
many girls and men too even if they don't think too much of it and even
    few children have emaciated face.
Since they're not likely to have gone on a crash diet what's the reason
    for them:
    lack of protein?

And what about bodybuilders, with their bulky bodys it's hard to tell
that the muscle tissue is starved away and yet I've seen several of
    them with gaunt, emaciated faces

There are many people who are moderate healthy and with a normal body
and yet they have emaciated face with scrawny cheeks.
I still wonder what is the reason, if it is due to wasted muscle tissue
.... why their body is not wasted just the face?

    Bad unhealthy diets.
    Not enough vegetables/fruits.
    Not enough good fats.
    Too many processed foods.

We had a woman cyclist over here who had anorexia.

    No.
Lack of *reataining* the protien. Differrent issue.
But like i said before, you need carbs *and* a little water as well.

If you are concerned about these things, then perhaps its better to stay
    away from testosterone.
Nandrolone and Dianabol have an almost similair effect, but are less harsh
    on the scalp. In theory.

Even in the winter, with a sweatshirt and a bomber jacket, people i know see

The face, and neck, tend to swell a bit. Especially the face.

If you cannot rersort to these things, i suspect a diet moderate in protein
but high in carbs are better. Just because you consume a pile of protein
does not mean you are actually using it. Most guys out there take waaaay to

Emaciated or gaunt faces happen... *naturally* as well. Ichabod Crane
    much?

(And, no, not the Johnny Depp version.)

    See: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v108/curt_james/MFW/ic.jpg

And have you heard of somatypes or somatotypes?

    http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/becker3.htm

"Sheldon categorised all possible body types according to a scale
ranging from 1 to 7 for each of the somatotypes, where the true
endomorph is 7-1-1, the pure mesomorph 1-7-1 and the 100% ectomorph
    scores 1-1-7." From: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Somatotypes

I've read that there are rarely pure endomorphs, mesomorphs, or
ectomorphs. That more often you'll find a person has a combination of
two or more types. My thighs are mesomorph, shoulders are ecto and,
especially as I approach 50, my abs are looking more and more endo. ;o)

Perhaps you have an ectomorphic face. God bless Mother Nature, eh?

Otoh, man has overcome nature on more than one occasion:

Hmm. Add "volume-depleted face" to gaunt and emaciated.

    Best of luck.

    This makes sense
Many people are actually fed as in getting all or more calories than
they require but the actually nourishment is nil. Indeed overfed but
    undernourished

Thats probably because a lot of protein is converted, because the diet

I assume you mean very large ripped muscles instead of "bulky"?

    Quoted message said:

Yes, large ripped muscle ... grotesque bodies sometimes

    Oh.
Probably a combination of AS with diuretics and thyroid.

Good question... difficult to answer. Maybe its genetic.

    Quoted message said:

The thing that makes me doubt the genetic explanation is that majority
of these people had not gaunt faces when they're were children or
    adolescents

Keep in mind that several genetic pre-dispotitions are not seen, or manifest
themselves as a child,. but that does NOT mean the disposition isnt there.
If you are disposed to get heart trouble, you would still be fine until you
    hit 40.
If you are pre-disposed to lose your hair, you would still have to wait until
    you are in your thirties.

One thing i know for sure, smoke a lot for several years, and your face

What's the mechanism behind this? What smoking does to the face

Perhaps the nicotin has a lipolitic effect. I am just guessing.
BTW, in women this seem to worse then in men.

If you cannot rersort to these things, i suspect a diet moderate in
    protein
but high in carbs are better. Just because you consume a pile of protein
does not mean you are actually using it. Most guys out there take waaaay
    to
    much protien.
And of course, staw away from alcohol and cigarettes. Or any drug for
    that
    matter...

    Quoted message said:

Thanks a lot, I will see what I can do .. but first of all I will try
to drink 3 liters of water every day and increase my carb intake and
    see if it helps

    3 liters is a lot.
try e few liters of fruit juice instead, since they will also contain carbs.

But now I wonder: there are many people out there with emaciated face
many girls and men too even if they don't think too much of it and even
few children have emaciated face. Since they're not likely to have gone
on a crash diet what's the reason for them: lack of protein?

    Bad unhealthy diets.
    Not enough vegetables/fruits.
    Not enough good fats.
    Too many processed foods.
Over/underfed people starving for real nutrition.

Emaciated or gaunt faces happen... *naturally* as well. Ichabod Crane
    much?

(And, no, not the Johnny Depp version.)

And actually I consider Johnny Deep an example of a person with an
emaciated face, especially in that movie of pirates

    http://br.geocities.com/wagner_cinema2/deep5.jpg

See? That's what I mean by gaunt face and scrawny cheeks

    Quoted message said:

    See: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v108/curt_james/MFW/ic.jpg

But, taking Ichabod as an example ... when we see a person/character
like him, scrawny and with a gaunt face how do we "know" that it is the
way "mother nature" wanted him to look and the way he has born to be
rather than a consequence of Ichabod nutrition, BF or LBM levels,
    sleeping pattern, stress ... whatever

And have you heard of somatypes or somatotypes?

    http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/becker3.htm

"Sheldon categorised all possible body types according to a scale
ranging from 1 to 7 for each of the somatotypes, where the true
endomorph is 7-1-1, the pure mesomorph 1-7-1 and the 100% ectomorph
    scores 1-1-7." From: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Somatotypes

Yes but even pure ectomorph can bulk up if they follow a good diet and
workout regime even if it takes time for them and they lose all the
mass they can put on if they stop eating clean and lifting heavy
But still it doesn't say much about their face, if they can overcome
their body type clearly that would mean they can also change the
tissues around their cheek bones, where does it say that ectomorph are
supposed to have gaunt faces? And why as children/adolescient they
    don't have gaunt faces?

Perhaps you have an ectomorphic face. God bless Mother Nature, eh?

That wouldn't explain why people can change their appareance so much
according to their listestyle. I didn't have an emaciated face just
three years ago when I was 17 and many people with a gaunt face had not
emaciated face when they were children or kids

    Do you smoke?

    Quoted message said:

Sounds more like something changing in our lifestyle rather than
something you're born with and will die with

Certainly appropriate diet changes will increase the amount of weight
all over your body. I imagine an extra sandwich would eventually impact
on your facial appearance as well as any other part.

    Yegods. Hideous!

Seriously, I don't think too many of us would complain if we woke up
with Johnny Depp's face and hair. Certainly not Williams. Har! Oh,
wait. He just looks like a fat me. Best keep quiet about his
appearance. Well, there's that nose, too, but I had surgical assistance
with mine. (Surgery IS an option, John.)

You make a very strong argument. And I do see validity in Pete's
testosterone + Dbol advice, however the general populace typically will
not resort to plastic surgery or AS. Of course, it wouldn't hurt to
    investigate every possible option.

What did you just say? Skinny guys can gain, but they'll lose their
gains if they cease their workouts and forced eating? I agree.

    Quoted message said:

But still it doesn't say much about their face, if they can overcome

    tissues around their cheek bones,

Not necessarily. Facial geometry, bone structure can certainly prevent
a person from... enjoying what they see in the mirror. Eyes set too
wide apart, a weak chin, sloping forehead, a hairline that's too close
to the eyebrows, and, yes, the alternative - a "hairline" suddenly
found on the back of your neck. ;o)

And people can do facial exercises. Not sure to what benefit, but...

    http://www.fashionindia.net/beauty/skin/beauty_face_exercise.htm

That one just looks unappealing to practice.

    http://www.ageless.co.za/facial.htm

That seems like a lot of work, but at least there didn't seem to be any
tapping involved. I didn't read all of it, though.

But the best facial exercise, in my opinion, will always be the simple
act of smiling. I draw caricatures often and a person's face will
change dramatically when they smile. And for the better. Who likes a
    sour puss?

    Quoted message said:

I'm not sure it says that anywhere, but certainly it's not unusual for
skinny people to possess a correspondingly skinny face.

    Quoted message said:

    Baby fat, naturally.

Actually, there's no one answer to your question(s) as people have such
a wide variety of faces. Is your face really that bad? If you're using
Johnny Depp as a comparison or as an example of a gaunt face then
perhaps you're looking much better than you're giving yourself credit
    for, David.
