Well, it retails for $5k about without pedals. I would say maybe $2-3k US for it. Depends what he WANTS for it.

I suppose the thing to ask yourself is, is it really worth that much?

I mean I know its a lovely bike and that but does the price justify how many seconds it will take off your times? Could the same be acchived by getting a little fitter or loosing a little weight.

But by all means if you have the money then go for it, its an awesome machine for the money. 😄

well i have an 06 allez comp that i can get $950 for....more than what i paid, so that $ will go towards the new bike....also im 5'9" 135lbs...can't take weight off, but we can always become more fit....

1800 seems like a great deal, but if he races it's been ridden hard, of coarse if there's a team mechanic it's probably been taken well care of.

If he has the moeny why shouldn't he buy the bike?

Cycling is about enjoying yourself not just about speed. If he is going to enjoy his riding more by being that bit more proud of what he is riding who should stop him?
Maybe having a nicer bike he'll feel more encouraged to ride more and hence get fitter.

Next you'll be telling the pros they don't need deep sections rims, they should just train harder! I don't get people telling others how to spend thier own money!
