  1. Ok lets go with this senerio, you made it to goal, maintained your
weight, and now one only one day lets say you have for one meal pasta
(mullers that kinda) and ragu about a big plate full for dinner. What
happens the next day??? Do you feel [censored] after only on cheat meal,
now we are only taking dinner?? Do you gain weight, lets say 200 cal
breakfast, 300 cal lunch and add the plate of pasta, sauce so that
would still be about 600 cal (a am guessing) ? So calorie wise not
out of control but lot of carbs in big plate of pasta? You see I have
never cheated so all you people who hit goal, had one meal now I am not
taking an all day food carb fest. What usually happened to you?
Really curious. By the way I have never felt so great on this way of
eating been doing it since october and here are all my benefits:

    1. NO AND I MEAN NO HEARTBURN, USE TO HAVE IT ALL THE TIME
    2. NO GAS
    3. NO SNORNING
    4. GREAT SKIN
    5. OF COURSE LOSE ALL WEIGHT
    6. ENERGY OUT THE ASS!!!!!!

I am so thrilled !!!!!!!!! also I have become a more nicer and
compassionate person on low carb, not so angry. Never depressed like
before. But that may be due to looking better so I cant equate that
    with low carb.

I wouldn't be real concerned at all.

I would just go back to the program about as if nothing had happened.
The small changes would be to take some combination of a little extra
exercise and/or fewer carbs/calories for a couple of days.

Then go on as normal, but kind of determined not to have this happen
    again a lot.

With one cheating big meal, as can happen at a social occasion, you
aren't going to balloon up 50 pounds overnight and have everybody laugh
at your new blimpness and curse you for having eaten a little too much once.

    Take it easy.

I MUST CONFESS, I did it last night when coming home from work.
Was feeling a little tired and craving a cheeseburger with fries, lucky
there was a good restaurant on the way home and I grabbed a steak dinner,
but ate the big baked potato and Garlic bread that came with it.

Did and hour walk today and back on track! :-)

Looking better certainly boosts the spirits, but don't discount other
factors. One thing that I noticed after losing a lot of weight was that
I had been carrying around so much weight that it was a real BURDEN on
me. I didn't just weigh a lot -- I was WEIGHED DOWN and much effort it
took. Now I see heavier people lumbering along and I remember how I
felt at the same weight. It's WORK hauling that around all the time, so
it can certainly affect your mood, even if you don't realize it at the
time. Also, so many things improved in my health and the way I felt
that I had new hope that things really COULD get better. Looking in the
mirror and seeing a smaller body is an added bonus :-) All things
    considered, it's a winning combination!

A single cheat meal doesn't bother me, except of course to break me
out of ketosis and stall weight loss. If it's a really heavy,
high-glycemic meal, like a Thanksgiving dinner with a big pile of
mashed potatoes followed by a couple pieces of pie, I might get some
mental fog, but that's it. It takes me 2-3 days of cheating for the
other symptoms of carb poisoning to start popping up: headaches,
heartburn, depression, lack of energy and ambition, etc.

I don't think you'll ever gain a significant amount of weight from a
single meal. If you do, I'd expect it to be water from storing the
extra glucose you're not used to. But any time you cause a large
production of insulin, you're going to postpone weight loss for a
    while, and that's not good.

I'm sure looking better has something to do with it, but I wouldn't
discount the mental effect of cutting carbs. I can tell how well I've
been sticking to my plan by how clear my mind is, how well my
short-term memory works, and so on.

Actually, no. Wait, a couple of times I DID have a slice of pizza. I
don't recall any bad effects from it, but it was only one slice each
time. I also had some Chinese food early on that turned out to have
some sugar in it (not much, but after going WITHOUT sugar for a few
months, it was QUITE noticeable to me -- I was shocked because I had
been eating the same dish off and on for years and it had never even
occurred to me that it might have sugar in it. Again, though, no bad
    effects from it.

I'm just really committed to low-carbing, so I guess I'm not the right
person to give answers on the after-effects part. Because my main focus
is to feel better, the fear of feeling like [censored] plays a key part in my
    staying on track.

Feel free. I realize it's a bit of hyperbole, but not entirely. If I
could sprinkle a powder in your food that would make you tired and
confused, give you headaches and heartburn, and eventually cause
disease, you'd say I was poisoning you, right? Carbs don't affect
everyone that way, but they do me, so the shoe fits.

Don't go there if the reason you low carb is for your health (GERD,
diabetes) or because you binge when you eat carbs. If GERD (or nasty,
recurrent heartburn) is a problemn when you eat carbs it'll come
screaming back. Ditto for the gas. If you binge on carbs, then eating
something like pasta may set you off - only you know how susceptible
    you are to that.

your pretty funny with that comeback saf!!! But have you ever went off

Are you a everything-in-moderation person, or are you a
crash-and-burn person? You you like moderation, then a
meal now and then off isn't going to be a problem. If
you're crash, then a meal off could lead to a year off.
Very much your call on that.

Have you followed the carb ladder and exactly learned
your body's reactions to all of the foods involved? That
is part of the process after all. If you have then you
already know if wheat is a trigger food for you. It is for
me so the meal you describe would tempt me to binge
and call for a detox afterwards, not worth the effort. If
you have not tried any wheat since starting, I suggest a
floury gravy first time. It will give you a smaller initial
    dosage.

    Quoted message said:

    How did you feel?

Bad. You pointed out snoring - wheat turns my snoring
back on loud. Plus most of the rest of your list.

    Quoted message said:

    What was the scale #?

You need to understand that part is irrelevant. One meal
can NOT trigger fat storage that way. One meal CAN
trigger water retention, and water reacts to gravity so it
shows on the scale. Since water isn't fat and it's fat that
we all wanted to lose, that type of scale bounce isn't an
issue. If you're going to freak out at water bounce, know
that in advance and stay off the sale until you're back
    stabilized.
