An email from my School Travel Plan Advisor:

"Transport for London are going to the North West Sustainable
Transport Awards to be held in Newcastle on the 22nd June 2006 to show
case the good work that London schools are doing to encourage
sustainable travel."

It was a team effort by everyone at school.

Project submissions for the transport theme included:

Nursery and reception - visiting Blackheath train station then making
models of trains and busses
Year 1 - A walk to and in Greenwich Park, looking at road signs and
sh*r*d use path markings.
Year 2 - Road safety posters
Year 3 - Adverisements promoting free travel for under 16s in London
Year 4 - Travel to school survey, and how children would prefer to
travel to school, showng results as pie and bar charts
Year 5 - Road traffic survey showing results as tally charts, bar
charts and pie charts
Year 6 - Powerpoint presentations explaining what cycle training is
all about

All Key sage 1 - Hedgehog road safety song
Me plus caretaker plus Greenwich Cyclists - Over 100 pupils now cycle
trained to Level 2 or above
Me et al - Cycling and your Child - a factsheet for parents

I bought strawberries and sparkling wine for all the staff to
celebrate after parents' evening tonight.

I told the two children wo will come with me to City Hall (the GLA
building) with on 4 July to recieve the award about it and they are
delighted. The rest of their classes are very happy for them - not
jealous. The three of us are going to cycle to City Hall along the
Thames Path.
