Quoted message said:I'm looking for a cycling challenge for this summer, and thought about
doing the GYBR in June. I'm an armchair cyclist looking for an excuse
to get out on the bike, will I be able to get enough miles in to be
able to complete GYBR between now and June? Just how bad are those
hills and is the event mainly club cyclists or are there other
part-timers like me who do it?
Some comments from the Great Yorkshire Bike Ride web site...
'We attract riders of all ages and abilities. To some it is an easy fun
thrash to the coast, to others, who have never ridden so far and so long, it
is the equivalent of climbing Everest. The atmosphere on the day is
electric. The entrants have taken this event to their hearts and every year
we are vastly oversubscribed. '
and......
' The interest in this year's ride has been overwhelming. At the beginning
of March we were receiving nearly 100 entries a day and we ended up
rejecting many potential entrants as the event was soon full and closed. '
You need to be aware that everyone of last years entrants will have received
a mailshot containing an entry form for this years ride
