  1. Any Habanero road frame riders have pics of their bike? I'm considering a purchase. Thanks.

Nah, they suck. Ask Mark Hickey... ;-) I'm kidding..everyone on here that has one has nothing but
    good words for them, AFAICR.

    Cheers,

    Scott..

  3. I bought one a little less than a year ago and love it. Mark Hickey was very helpful and worked with
me. "veloman" <[email hidden]> wrote in message

habcycles.comhabcycles.com has gobs of pictures. My road habby frame is seven years old and looks
just like the ones on the website whenever I choose to wipe the dirt and whatever off it. Rumor has
it Mark changes decals on a whim, but you have to get close to see the difference.

I'll chime in here. No pics, but Mark has plenty on his site and the frame I have looks just like
the one on his site. The real deal is involved with:

    1) Fit (your problem, frankly. Mark will custom build, but you have to give him the size.
    Fortunately, I take a standard 56cm).

    2) Detailing: Welds are very nice, better than I see on some frames costing many times as much.
Frame prep is perfect. This is the first frame I have had where the bottom bracket just fit
perfectly, and the headset as well. Alignment was perfect.

    3) Finish: Well, that's why you want titanium. No stinking paint required. Decals are kinda
    delicate. Big deal.

    4) Durability: Mine's only a year and a half old, so I can't tell yet if it will last, but all
    signs are good.

    5) Geometry, stiffness, and all that: You can specify the geometry if you want custom, but the
standard works great. Nice and stiff, with those big ol' chain stays. Not as light as the fancier
frames, but is half a pound worth that much? Your choice.

  6. Can't vouch for the ride, as I'm still finishing up the assembly of my Habanero road bike (mostly
Campy Centaur triple components). But if Mark's support is any indication, this bike will ride like
a dream. He has been nothing short of amazing in responding to my multiple and often very detailed
emails about what frame size and geometry to get, what components to put on it, how to assemble it,
dealing with various problems, and so on. Any questions I've asked, got answered, usually within a
day, and often much sooner. It's obvious that he wants his customers to be happy with their frames.
As for pix, I haven't seen much more than what's available on Habanero's site, but these pix pretty
much cover every angle. It's a nice-looking frame, in my opinion. Very solid-looking and feeling.
Can't wait to ride mine. Good luck!

  10. I recently (September) purchased a new Habanero bike. I love it. In fact, the more I ride it the
more I like it. I've ridden steel for over 25 years, including my beautiful custom Litton frame.

The Habanero was put together for me by Andy Muzi at www.yellowjersey.org in Madison, Wi. I live
in California. The entire bike sans pedals and with the Campy Centaur groupo was under $2K,
    including shipping.

They gave me great service, were obviously very experienced at doing this, and without any
hesitation re-did much of the bike after they sent me a pre-ship pic and I didn't like the look of
the silver bars, stem, and seat post. I mean, isn't this the real test? A problem from your point of
view arises and it's dealt with in as good a way as you could want.

Excellent post sales support too. (Sorry if this sounds like an ad, but you know, when something I
never thought I'd ever do and in fact was quite frightened of--i.e., mail-ordering a bike--worked
    out so well and easily...)

Anyway, just a satisified customer of theirs and a lover of my new Hab.

That sure is pretty. When I get $695 for frame buying purposes, I know who I'm emailing.

    The pedals are camouflage, maybe?

I won't be able to buy a 1998 Hab, though; see the tagline at

point here, anyway. Fits me like a glove.

Around bike shops now, 'senza pedali' is normal. For this bike, we don't install pedals if
    we're shipping.

In the showroom we don't bother because there's no way to know if it should be Campagnolo or Look (
or Speedplay or Cook or Time or whatever). There's no pedal system that's more than 20-25% of bike
sales (Look) and that's generous. Test rides are 75% toeclips.

Close enough. There was an early episode where Homer buys the crappy motorhome (that's the one where
the alarm goes off when the salesman checks his credit rating).

The Canyonero episode was some seasons later. Homer also bought the Canyonero, but gave it to Marge
after his co-workers pointed out he had purchased the "F" model, meant for women (it has a lipstick
    where the lighter should be).

FWIW, my 56cm (c-t) frame does seem to be kind of dead center on the bell curve (for male, US
cyclists at least). I also happen to be a very much center of the bell curve cyclist (5'10" / 1.78m)
cyclist who fits on the above-mentioned frame with the center of the bell curve 11cm stem. It seems
through casual observation that the the center of the 56cm (c-t) frame population tends to have a
top tube in the 56cm range as well (with 0.5cm either way probably covering 75+% of the frames).

And yes, the seat tube angle will affect the fit, but again, the majority are within 0.5 degrees of
73.5, which means that the deviation at the seat post clamp is only ~5mm (0.5cm for those of you who
    prefer that unit).

    Dear Bill and Chris,

I cannot stress how important it is to consult the original texts when the quarto and the folio
    disagree and scholars grow confused.

"The Simpsons Forever!" summarizes "Screaming Yellow Honkers" on page 66. Chris is correct--it's a
huge Canyonero SUV that Marge takes to driving when Homer finds that it's not manly enough.

Krusty got his Canyonero in "The Last Temptation of Krusty."

Wolfcastle does not own a Canyonero, but instead goes to his HumVee "to be alone."

The "Ultimate Behemoth" is the two-story RV that Homer, envious of Flanders, buys in "The Call of
the Simpsons"--see page 23 of "The Simpsons--A Complete Guide to Our Family."

As always, the Simpsons provides an appropriate closing quotation:

"Well, they sure sucked the fun out of that poem." --Marge, "The Secret War of Lisa Simpson
