Hair analysis,please help interpret

Thanks. it even mentioned that Doctor's Data was fined
$25,000. The same company processed my hair sample. I was
talked into this by a nutritionist who sold me vitamins
based on the hair test results.

Hey Rich, why do you need a hair anyalysis to take vitamins?
They are not custom tailored to you personally. Many people
take vitamins daily without any analysis done. Take any multi-
vit and see if they help. If they don't then what's the
point. For a "nutritionist" to concentrate on them is for
money purposes only. A true nutritionist will teach you to
eat healthy.

That is the typical scam approach, they do a hair thingee
and create a problem wich they are happy to solve by buying
some ordinary vits which they just happen to sell in their
"nutrition store", which just happens to be on the same
primeses; how close did I get it?

If hair analysis is such a non starter, can anybody tell me
why then do British forces use this method to detect whether
an employee has been taking drugs?

Also why does some peoples hair go yellow when they've been
taking certain prescribed drugs?

My point is, if the hair can hold information such as
the above, why can it not hold info about our
nutritional status?

It isn't that hair cann't hold residue, but does it hold
same to say anything about nutrition. This is an
emperical question,ie. being subject to verification to
testing. Advocates for using it thusly have do the
homework to make the case in a scientific manner. The
personal reports of a quack's experience, no matter how
sincerely held, doesn't count.

It's a screening test, for exposure, not use. It depends on
the drug residue discovered. Marijuana exposure could be due
to inhalation, or second-hand smoke (which might also be
problematic). Evidence for opiates would more likely
indicate use. You can be sure it's not the only test used,
it's just the least invasive place to start looking.

It might, but no one has proven that it does. Even hair that
is only half an inch from the head has been exposed to the
external environment for a whole month, so not only does it
not reflect anything about the current state of the body, it
has confounding effects from where the body has been.
