Thank you and the same to you and your family. Gee -- it's already 2004 there.

One "memorable" NYE here was when a rail strike (I believe) had hundreds of coal barges stacked up
in the Bay (Chesapeake). At midnight, they all used their horns for about 5 minutes. Then the honks
gradually tapered off. However, it seems that each one wanted to get in the 'last word', so a single
beep would start aother series of honking. They finally gave up around 1am. :-)

Where are you? It poured buckets in SF on Monday, but so far it's dry... looking at webcams - it's
clear in SoCal and snowy in the Sierra's and we're overcast (confirmed by looking out the window).

Tonight's dinner will be a Mexican extravaganza. Snapper Veracruz with green rice and a jicama
salad. I'm resting my eyes after cooking up the poblanos and onions that go into the green rice.

A happy, healthy and prosperous New year to all the RFCers from the Honduran contingent.

The neighborhood people spent an evening building a straw figure of the detested Olimpia Futbol
club, stuffing it with straw, newspaper, and fireworks in anticipation of midnight. Amid a volley of
aerial bombs, roman candles, bottle rockets and firecrackers, the effigy was burned and the parties
began. Pina Coladas and tamales for everyone last night!
