Hi.
Can anyone tell me if Hawk bicycles are a good make or not? They're certainly cheap and I think
British made.
Thanks.

Well they used to be pretty [censored], heavy, poor components etc. Maybe they have changed for the better
in the past 10 years.

They are made out of the patented "Scaffold Tubing". I believe that many shipping lines buy them,
take off the wheels and use them as anchors during storms.

I would suggest that you employ the barge-pole as far as Hawk is concerned. They have a few retail
outlets in the Midlands where the "staff" are pretty lacking in knowledge and levels of service
(even to buy an inner tube!) are laughable.
Go to a real bike shop, or one of the mainstream mail-order outfits that advertise in the
cycling mags

In defense if you want a £50 bike - don't intend to go off road. I would suggest a hawk is ok.
They are bloody heavy though.

Peter, Not as heavy as my Raleigh genesis. I was doing thirty mile rides on that thing and I am sute
that's the reason I was losing five pounds a week in weight - the thing must weigh eight tones at
least !!! Steve "Peter Rollason" <[email hidden]> wrote in message
