A new era in mountain biking began in northern Scotland today (27/9)
when the Laggan Wolftrax trails in Achduchil Forest at Laggan in
Badenoch, southern Inverness-shire, opened for business.

The 14 kilometres (8.75 miles) of trails cater for different levels of
riders, with sections graded from moderate to difficult and
severe. They are expected to provide an economic boost for the local
community in the form of visiting riders using local accommodation,
hospitality, food and fuel providers.

No, that's the trouble. A lot of 'em drive to their chosen trail, thereby
not really
contributing to environmental sustainability. I'm more impressed with the
ones who cycle there, or at least from
the nearest station.

This is one of those delicious cockups which can only happen
in real life.

Singletrackworld published a report that the new trails are now
completed and this prompted a thread on their Forum about how
Severe a man made trail should be. This prompted groups to make
plans to go this weekend to check it out.

Then one guy who knew the project heard this and sent off panic
messages to warn riders that the PR prompt was wrong and only
the family tracks are open yet.
You can read the updates for yourself but he reported that there
have already been serious incidents there with nutters trying out
partially completed tracks blasting thru work parties only to
drop into an unfilled hole and worse.
