Headset Adapter - Threaded to Threadless

They work.

Why not a quill stem with adjustable rise? They're heavy but it sounds like that might do the trick for you.

There are a bunch of adjustable quill stems available from manufacturers such as Kalloy and Zoom among others. (see links)

No firsthand experience with them, but they may be a cleaner setup.

I just got a Profile H2O quill stem and is is quite well made and comes in a variety of lengths and at least two angles (I got a 90mm74deg). It also has a removable faceplate so it is a snap to change.
