While I have to read the subtitles because my German is a little rusty, I rented Hell on Wheels last night. I was very surprised to see it at my local video store here in America. It was in the foreign film section of course.
Anyway, I watched an hour last night before crashing and I really liked it. It is a documentary about the tour and follows Erik Zabel and Rolf Aldag in the 2003 TDF. It is a beautiful and different look at the tour than I have gotten. Lot's of good looks at the behind the scenes experiences of the riders. Totally different than the Lance Chronicles but don't get me started on that. 99% of my cycling coverage has been OLN and the other 1% has been the old CBS 1 hour Sunday special. This is very cool. I can't wait to find a copy of Overcoming, the CSC film from last year.

yeah, I see it in the WCP catalogs too. Looking for a way to get it cheaper than $30 or $40. The $3 rental of Hell on Wheels suits nicely. I probably won't rewatch these like I do actual races.
I got Overcoming on DVD for Christmas, and I have to say that it is a really great documentary, probably the best one that I have ever seen. It is really well shot, and takes you right into the struggles of CSC during thier quest for the podium in the 2004 tour. I was amazed. I wish that there had been focus on some of the other races building up to the tour, but hey, can't have everything. Also, the second disc, the Special Features, is really good. The scences on this disc just show the behind the scences in cycling. Like in one chapter, car life, you see Riis and Ullrich talking on the last day (of the tour) watching formula-one racing on the tv in the car. 😄 There is also a long chapter on Jens Voight which is really insightful. Overall, I loved this documentary, as though you couldn't tell!! :p

yeah, its definatily worth it. I forgot one thing though. I know someone else who bought the DVD and they had the same problem. The DVD skips in the prolougue, which is one of the coolest parts. Maybe they fixed it, but just a heads up.
