Article -> Cancel...I don't know if it will do many or just one at a time.

Errr.. you are correct.
I recently changed to Thunderbird for email, so might go the 'all-in-one'
route. Then again most of the denizens of this newsgroup would be more at
home with vi'ing your Mail file and grepping the news spool.
(There - that's done it. Emacs/vi wars. And you thought helmet threads got
heated?) -

But having found out that a Cambridge Moultoneer wrote one of the
immediate predecessors of vi my prejudices were confirmed.(I actually first used emacs in 1982, but dropped it when I came across vi
