There is no wrong forum when it comes to gathering people to support a cause
like cancer you [censored]. Most everyone in the world has been touched by
cancer. If you have no one in your family or don't know anyone that has or
had it, then you are very lucky and rare.

Apparently Sharon forgot to read the Rec.Bicycles FAQ and also our Charter which
speaks about crossposts outside the hierarchy. (note to Sharon - it's under the
"Prohibited" part)

I see your point Curt, but if everyone (with their cause) and is riding for a
cure (for their cause) crossposts from their newsgroups to bicycle newsgroups,
you'll get flooded with such and would change the flavour of the newsgroup, not
to mention flames ;-)

Can we (you) call it quits now, before it gets worse, please?

Hey,

There is nothing sadder in the world then childrens cancer. No child
ever deserves the disease. I did a childrens cancer hospital wing
visit for my cycling team three years ago, and have never seen
anything like it in my life.
While this was/is the wrong forum for your post, I do wish you
success with your event on Aug 7th. It's for a great cause.

Actually there is a wrong forum. If everyone one behind a worth cause
did the same stupid thing then the newsgroups would be worthless. This
is no better than spammers trying to sell you something.

the following:

Perfectly ok:
"Big run in Lexington KY 8/7."

Pretty ok:
"Big run in Lexington KY which happens to raise money for charity"

Not ok:
"Cancer-fighting fundraiser run in Lexington KY Aug 7"

Um, not much difference, huh? I guess I haven't read the "charter". As
if people obey rules posting here? If there are rules and an
administrator to enforce them, how 'bout starting by removing all the
troll posts that I block minimally-effectively with my spam-blocker?

How about any of the above posted to rec.bicycles.racing? Because that
newsgroup was included in the original post. I guess rec.sport.triathlon
could be considered ok, though the posting guidelines there require
"ad:" or "Press Release:" as a subject line prefix to be legit.

Great cause, and I hope it's a successful event, but rules=rules.
