i'm getting antsy to upgrade and can't decide between upping my 105 shift levers (to campy records) or replacing my mavic cosmos with some ksyrium elites....can i frankenstein campy levers onto 105 derailers, cahinrings, etc? or should i just get wheels, and then bide my time til i can upgrade the whole component package?
i appreciate ALL input!

Hi,If you really need to spend, upgrade your wheels. You'll probably notice some sort of performance difference there. The 105 shifters are good enough.
Cheers,

Vote #2 for wheels. You can take them to your next bike too.

I would add a vote for wheels above shifters. Unless bling is the objective, in which case you can't beat the Campagnola name.

chorus is just as good as record and alot cheaper... were talkin 25 grams here, my hair on my head is probably 25 grams :p

I agree, I don't see a need to upgrade from 105 to record. If you want to upgrade, chorus or ultegra will be fine (and I lot cheaper). With that said, I would upgrade the wheels b/c you'll see a performance upgrade there, whereas you won't see much (if any) of a performance difference from changing the brifters.

Go for the Ksyriums - you can take them with you when you get your next bike. The levers won't do anything for you.

I vote for a HAC4 or similar training computer. Then you can wow all of us with your graphs of recent ride data.

i appreciate ALL input!Basically , you have to decide to go Campy, or stick with Shimano. Once you make that decision... then you'll know what to spend your money on. Personally, I'd save up for a Chorus groupo ... but swap out the hubs/BB for Record. What ever you do, dont monster-monkey wrench around with mixing Campy/Shimano together ........ thats FREAKY wrong :o
