  1. I was hoping that someone in this forum would have some insight for me. A bit of background I'm 24 and have high ldl levels (to let you know this is not from eating too much or lack of exercise I'm 130 and 5'6" this runs in my family) I have been on a variety of statins since I was 19 and have just been switched to crestor from lipitor since I'm still not close to an acceptable level. My question is has anyone here every been or know anyone who has high cholesterol and gotten pregnant and how it effected them when it came to not being able to take the meds. I've tried to research the topic but besides for getting the response to stop taking meds if pregnancy is suspected I have yet to find any information on others in this situation. I would be grateful for any information anyone can offer. Thank you.

  2. Hello, I am 32 weeks pregnant. I have never had high blood pressure in the past including my previous pregnancy. I had my Dr. Appointment today and I was told that my blood pressure is high which is 150/72 on sitting up and when I laid on my left in went to 132/50 but then when I sat back up it went back to the 148/70 range. Is this unusual? Kindly advise me.

  3. I think there is no unusual explanation ,but high cholesterol usually related to emotion or stress level,I think you need to bit more relax to deal that situations

  4. High Cholesterol is such a dangerous and alarming situation that now most of the people are feeling today that without proper nutrition and exercise they can easily fall prey to this disease.

One-off readings regarding blood pressure readings, are of little value.

The higher figure (systolic pressure) traditionally should be around 120-130 and the lower figure (diastolic pressure) should be between 80-90.

However, blood pressure changes throughout the day, for a variety of reasons and depending on when the measurement is taken has a bearing on the reading.

If it is a worry for you, I would suggest talking to your doctor and decide if it is worth purchasing a blood pressure reading machine and take a series of readings at the same time each day, in order to build up a database upon which to assess whether or not you have a BP issue.

A good way to help lower BP is to consume potassium (fruit/veg), lose weight (which will be difficult in your condition) - if BP problems continue then you can take medication for it.

But you and your doctor need to ascertain if you do have a BP problem first.
And you can only do so by taking consistent readings over an extended period of time.

    Hope this helps.

  6. As a male, I can't comment on the pregnancy aspect. But...

Recent studies show that statin drugs like Lipitor are of zero benefit to women. And they are of only slight benefit to men. Sure they lower the cholesterol level, but its not the cholesterol by itself that causes heart attacks. The cholesterol has to block the arteries, which requires calcium build up. Without the calcium build up the cholesterol isn't important. Statins help 1 in 100 people, yet a high percentage have side effects. Antibiotics help some 9 in 10, and most drugs don't make it to market unless they help 4+ out of 10. Statin use is simply a drug company marketing success story. Click here to read just one reference to the claim above.

Good and high does of fish oil has been shown to be effective against cholesterol as well.
