Well, if they decide to defend the jersey the tactic will be to try to
place a rider in every attack. If anyone gets in a move that sticks
they become the race leader. So it could be George as much as anyone else.

And it is not true that he's never been so close. He was 2 seconds behind
Bo Hamburger in 1998, but couldn't close it.

A week+ to do it in, but as they get closer to the mountains I think
they'd want to conserve George's energy. This isn't a team known for

of Hamburger in 1997 he would have gotten the jersey then
instead of sitting 2nd, 2 seconds back.

Then O'Grady moved past both of them on time bonuses. So I
wouldn't hold my breath. It's not George's strong suit.
