Thinking of getting a Tanita scale, just how far out are these scales? I know calipers are the most accurate if done by a profesional, but I am no pro with them. I want something that I can use to check my BF% at home easily.

The Accu-Measure from http://www.accumeasurefitness.com/ seems quite precise judging from the papers done on the method. It's pretty easy to use (30-50 seconds to take 3 samples).
I use this device http://www.bodytronics.com/PROD/OM306. I costs a few bucks more than the calipers, but it takes only ~15 secs to take a measurement. I'm not sure if it is as accurate as the caliper method, but the numbers seem reasonable.
Judging by your picture I'd say that in fact none of these devices work well for you. I've conducted literally thousands of skinfold measurements from all types of athletes and can usually tell what percentage body fat a person is before I've measured them simply from looking first. I normally get within 2%. I can't see what you look like under your jersey but from your frame and looking at your arms I'd guess at 12 - 14%.
